Ernie's rifle rest OUTSTANDING
« on: May 11, 2011, 08:36:25 PM »
Took out Ernie's updated model rifle rest. Didn't see many groundhogs because grass was to high. I did manage to smoke a groundhog at 260 yards using the new rifle rest. Not a bad shot in 223 caliber. I was using that new Savage predator rifle.

What no KILL pictures?
For a brief moment I could hear nature through all the noise.

If you can believe this.. I am enjoying using  Ernie's rifle rest even when the shooting at critters is at a low...  Gun sits all secure while you call for predators  or scan for chucks..  I can watch for incoming predators and not have to hold the rifle in my hand..Also in the daytime...Even non camo'ed....The predators and chuck just can't see you because you are behind the rest..They can't see you because the rest is in front of you... Now they think it's just another piece of farm equipment sitting on the top of the hill..

For those that do own one...After you shoot a chuck and go to retrieve the chuck...Look back up at the rest on  the hill.. You can't even tell it's a shooting rest..

That was nice for Ernie to upgrade my rest to as he incorporates new changes to it...

I am happy that you are enjoying your rest.  I received that new adjustable front rest.
You might have to take me ground hog hunting up there and I can just bring it along. :-)

Buckwheat the new one you put on works great...Today I visited cabelas..My kids gave me a couple of gift cards for Christmas... I ended up buying a Range Finder... A Nikon Prostaff 550....Now with the E. Wilson rest, my 22250, and the Nikon range finder I'm ready to start to shoot chucks farther then  250 yards..  All this practice I want to do with the rest... Looking forward to a lot more fox and coyotes being shot with a rifle  in 2011...

You personally can get them with ground hogs at an additional cost. But shipping a little stinky and shipping cost more because of the extra weight. :-)

You have heard the surfer use the term  Hang Ten...The picture with the chuck hanging is:  ... Hang 15...Three paws dangling with 5 toes on each paw...Hang Ten...??? I think it means in surfing world to keep all 10 toes on the surf board.  When I was in Hawaii...Everyone was wearing those surfing clothes in the late 60's with two feet on the front..Who gives a ___ about surfing... I'll stick with the Hang 15 instead of the Hang 10. Bitchin!!!That woodchuck hunting for sure...

Foxpro, how do you like the savage predator rifle. Right now i'm looking to trade in my tikka for either a savage or a remington predator. Any thoughts on this?
