sharp shinned buffet
« on: March 15, 2017, 01:07:06 PM »
Always get a kick out of watching the neighborhood sharp-shinned hawk scanning from above and dive bombing a song bird who is cashing in on a well stocked bird feeder..have seen several times a bird get plucked straight off the perch..and in reality, this feat doesn't even demonstrate the awesome abilities hawks in the Accipiter family possess...never the less, it never gets old..

Those sharp shinned hawk are impressive creatures. I used to have  a foxpro wildfire II with the foxjack decoy. That thing had been railed by hawks and owls on several occasions. Always made me wonder what went through their mind when they impacted hard plastic instead of soft flesh....

Neat video.
We have Sharp Shinned, Cooper and Redtail Hawks cruise our yard and bird feeders.
Wife actually saw Cooper kill Blue Jay. She saw that happen twice.
Couple of years ago, a Redtail knocked over my hen Turkey decoy.

A few years ago I witness a red tail pick up one small turkey as the mother was taking all her young across the road. Now after that happend she got her young around her pretty quick.
