Wild Fox vs. Ranch Fox
« on: March 15, 2017, 06:51:03 AM »
Here's a picture of Wild Red Fox (Left) and Ranch raised Red Fox (Right)
This is an example that size matters.
Picture is only of size, picked randomly. Not grade vs. grade.

"Predators are either active & feeding, semi-active & callable, or utterly inactive & then practically speaking, no call is needed; we're just taking our guns for a walk. We can & should get used to it, & follow their leed cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow our’s any time soon!

Not only the feed, but the breeding. They been farmed soon long, growers developed a larger Fox. Plus Ranch Fox have been bred for a consistent color.
From time to time, folks have ask me why Ranch Fox sell higher in price at auction then Wild Fox. Well, size matters in this case.

Lookn4aRedWolf, here's Ranch Mink. (No they ain't Otter)
Not only larger then Wild Mink, but color is more consistent.
Look down the racks to see different colors...lighter & darker...

I guess they have breeding for the best traits down to a science. Those mink are astounding! Hern, did you take these pictures yourself?

When I was a kid, I remember having a fox farm operation on Route 62 just before the village of President. Not sure what ever happened to the place. It's long since gone....

Hmmmmmm?  Makes me wonder if people claiming to see Mountain Lion in PA aren't seeing farm raised tabby cat's. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Lookn4fur, that's an interesting take on the mountain lion sightings. Have you ever seen the Savannah cats that breeders have produced? Many look like a Leopard,  but some are darker colored. Could be why people see "black Panthers" too. Google search Savannah cats and look at these things....  :o :o :o
