Am lousy Bobcat caller...
« on: February 02, 2017, 02:58:49 PM »
I'm done. Ka-put. Finished for the season. Calling & Trapping. (maybe Beaver trapping in March)
I have 6 Cable Restraints out, but am pulling tomorrow.

I don't post many pictures or stories, but would like to share.
Bobcat calling & trapping was a flop for me, but added some Fox calling the past two days.

I called for Bobcats five times. No luck. The past two days I worked on Fox, too.
I used a shotgun since I was in good cover.
Yesterday I killed a Red Fox and double on Greys.
Todays kill, 2 Red Fox at different locations.

I was heading home with one Red. I decided to stop above our house to call a brushy ravine where I had some Cable Restraints hanging.
I purposely called at this spot to see if I could get a Fox or Coyote to respond and run into my cable restraints.
In the past, I have called 2 Fox into cables as I watched. Neat chit. I've tried and tried to cable call a Coyote, but that's hasn't happened yet.
I have 4 trails setup with cable restraints, at this spot. It happened. I was playing a bird distress with decoy twitching around.
I saw movement and the Red was already cabled and flying around and caught by the neck.
Did I call the Red or trap the Red?...I don't care, it's in the shed.  That was as exciting as pulling the trigger.
I love this stuff.
Am done for the season.

I'll post picture when they are finished & put up.

Cable called Red, second on left...

dreamcatcher, our Fox population is down. I surprised myself.
I skun those Fox today and boarded 4 of them, then I tired out. Will board last one tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow have another in cable where I called today.
Thanks, foxhound

Hern, Jake and I passed your house this past weekend.  I thought of stopping in but it would have been unannounced and did not want to surprise you and the little misses in the hot tub. 8) 8) 8)
