Calling during the 2 week deer season.
« on: December 09, 2014, 07:27:22 AM »
Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing empty stands during our deer season. So far this year and last year calling fox was almost non-existent during this 2 week period. I think theres too much scent in the woods right now or the fox are just waiting until very late to come out and hunt?????? Your thoughts????

Myself and Bowman were out last night for about 4 hours and killed 3 reds.  We figured it was going to be a good night with the storm front moving in....and it was.

We also called in what we believe was a coyote.  I saw the eyes for about 2 sconds about 75 yards away popping up over the hill.  Then, around 10 minutes later we saw them again down wind and out about 125 yards for about 4 seconds.  That was the last we saw them.  I spoke with the farmer earlier and he said he had been hearing yotes.....   1 + 1 = Coyote to me.

I killed 3 Greys last evening and was home by 8pm.

During Deer season, Fox and Coyote get pushed out of home or moved around a bit. Some traditional spots may be dead, others are will be fine. Just depends on the Deer hunting pressure.
On the other hand, I've experienced some areas that don't hold alot of Canines during the year seem to be 'hot spots' during Deer Season. Deer hunting pressure seems to push these Canines to certain areas. On such, in my territory with little Deer hunting pressure,  75 acres of brush next to a housing development is 'hot' during Deer Season.
If you can find little Deer hunting pressure, you may find a 'hot spot'.
Get out there...
