coyote called in
« on: September 26, 2013, 12:06:34 PM »
my son got a new fox pro caller so we went out last evening at about 6 oclock. we put the caller about fifteen feet in front of us and started calling with grey fox in disstress, after about 3 minutes we seen something coming in the tall grass on the other side of a big op[en field, my son switched to screaming grey fox and out steped the coyote into the open field. he slowly made his way half way and stopped so my son switched to coyote puupy and the yote came on a dead run to within 2 feet of the caller and 15 feet within us and just stood there looking at us. after a few seconds he slowly trotted away, we had no guns we just wanted to try out the new caller(it works). ive called for a lot of years but this was the best show ive seen. this was no puppy eithier. it probally wont happen like that when we have guns, but it was a thrill. i got so excited i ordered a caller from fox pro that night

I was hunting with two other hunters for coyotes... The wind was blowing into my face on this farm.. Snow was over  8 inches deep... I decided the strategy was that I would walk in about 75 yards with the wind in my face... the two hunters would stay back just where it was legal behind me wind in their face.. the strategy was that I was going to do the calling and the coyote would circle me and come behind me and they would shoot it with the shotgun... I started my calling scenario..  at the  20 minute mark I see two fore legged animals coming toward me in the tree line... I first thought they were deer! Nope I called in two coyotes and they were coming right to me. there I am with an Encore rifle trying to fumble on the hammer.. Single shot.. Oh how I wish I had the Benelli SBE 2...I would have had three quick shots at two coyotes...They didn't do what I thought they would do.. They came to me from the up wind side and not down wind behind me for the two shooter to get a shot..  guess what?  It was Mosquito Creek weekend yet. Ha Ha... I  should have had two... wrong Gun.  Note I did take a quick shot at two coyotes heading for another county after the found out I was not another coyote... Wow what a story to tell however!!! :)

Coyote! you just never know which way they are going to come to the call!??????????
