again thanks to all who gave time and effort to this endeavor...

as Ernie stated, this gun mounted light was never intended to be the sole source of light for hunting, but as a secondary source of light to be used only for final determination the eyes belonged to a hunted prey animal and for the shot... only after eyes were spotted with a hand held or head mounted light should the gun mounted light be brought into play...

lets keep this sport as safe as we can... y'all have a good fur season... hope to see some of you in the field and at several of the hunts...  Dale...

Thanx to all who helped in this effort!!! :D

  I've talked to two WCO's since this bill passed and one had not heard of it yet  :oops: and the other had the concern that folks would use it as a single light source and scan with it causing a very dangerous situation, similar to the mug checking you out through his scope during deer season.

yes, unfortunately the PGC couldn't get the exact wording the PPHA asked for into the Amendment. this would have caused too much confusion in the regualations wording among hunters...so they went forward without the supplimental light wording, and it passed.

both of you are right on the money.....just because it doesn't say to use a scanning light in the hand or on the head...doesn't mean you should scan with the light affixed to the gun. UNSAFE no matter what.

I think that when people realize that when/if you use a single light source (GML) to scan, your arms won't be steady for the shot. A small lite weight light to scan is the ticket. Don't forget, that when you are doing this it is at night. And when you pull the trigger you might just get checked out by more than a WCO. In that respect, you want them to feel ok with what you're doing. And if they feel comfortable with you and your hunting methods, this could leed to other operatunaties(sp ?). There is land owners that have problems with animals that need controled. Responceable hunters are what they are looking for !!!!! 8)
