Just like anything else that is on the market, there are good and not so good. With Stihl the odd # saws ie; 250, 290, 310 are home owner saws if you are cutting occasionally these will work fine. If you are heating with wood and cutting a couple cord a year go with the even # saws 260, 260 pro, 280 and my favorite "big" saw the 360, 361 and the new 362. The Huskies are good saws as well but in the past they have had major problems with their anti-vibration handles breaking, do not know if that issue has been resolved as we quit selling them a couple of years ago due to this problem. 1 out of 3 saws sold were back for repairs. All that said, I use an "old" Poulan pro that I would not trade for any of them
