light setups??
« on: July 18, 2010, 06:49:02 PM »
im sure this topic has been beat to death some where along the line,  but im new to nite hunting for  predators, im guessin i need some kind of area lighting with the red lense and a gun mount light with white light for making the shot, am i thinkin  the right direction?? i was considering the streamlight waypoint for the area lght , will have to make a red filter somehow and mount one of my surefires or something similar with a pressure pad switch or am i thinkin wrong??

This is one of the setups we use on our truck mounted sets.

Here is another setup we use.

This is the neat things... Light system that other predator callers use in other states.  I know we can't hunt from vehicles here but we could set up something like this on a chair etc etc etc.. Clint thank you for sharing

Clint, what part of the state are you hunting in? I've been there with a guy named Don Peirce, he was from Midland and he had a very similar set up. Do you know Don?

I'm in West Tx. About 52 miles west of Midland. I don't think so. I'm bad with names.

I love that part of Texas, I can't wait to go back. I killed four Bobcats in one night With Don. I could have killed more but I didn't need more.

Hunted all around that area. Great area for cats and coyotes. I have a friend by Crane Tx who owns 60 square miles of property The Pacos river runs right through the middle of his property. Ever hunt by Garden City area ?

Ever take any Ringtail cats? They look like a squirrel with a raccoon tail and two buggy eyes.

swarter2 thanks for posting that..Now that would also allow you to hunt chucks on farms that the grass is up to 8 inches high too..
I might have to make me one of those.. Also  night time hunting with a rifle in levels fields too...It would get you up a bit and you could see incoming for a long way off..
