what times are you hunting?

calling gets a little harder this time of year...stay on stand a little longer for those hesitant predators. and don't call too much.

typically i go from dark to about 10 -10;30 ,,,stay for 10 to 15 min ,,and just let the call play the whole time.

if your calling for 15mins with an electronic call....split your calling into 3 sequences. first series of calling at low volume for a minute or less....wait 5mins. 2nd series at medium volume for 2-3 mins(bump volume up and down a touch to add realisim with an e-call), wait 5 mins than turn volume up a touch more for another 2-3 min sequence. wait and scan quietly for another 2-3 mins for any late comers...if nothing move on.

scan for eyes the whole time. dont turn your light off.

lately i've had good response while using my fx3 by calling with low volume for a minute..break for 3 min...than LOUD for 30sec...break for 2 min...than soft for 5min+ straight at low volume. had alot of response with bird distress lately.

With you being from in the north with the snow. I have found they move some and use the places where snowmobiles , atv,s and even back roads to travel on. Or they are in where the snow is not as deep. Under pines and such.

With this warm spell coming it should get better.
