if you had to pick would you use a .22 long rifle or a 20 ga for fox and coyote

good luck finding premium ammo/copper plated, buffered for the 20ga... and the only buckshot available is #3 which isn't legal... neither one are good choices in my opinion...

I use remington nitro express in mine, yellow color, forget the size. works fine for the animals I have taken with it. 1 grey fox and couple coon and 2 skunk.

a definate 'no' on a 22lr for fox. not enough 'umph' personally. sure you can kill one with a 22...but may take 2 or more shots to put it down.

A well placed neck or head shot would take down a fox no problem.  I've taken plenty of fox with my .17hmr.

i love my cz 17 I may be wrong but if you hit an animal in the head or neck they wont go far mostly
