 8)     this was dad and i's second set on friday. we setup in a select cut made a couple years ago. we had dads decoy and the fx5 about 15 yards to my right setup on a skidder trail. dad started out with his hand caller playing the dying bunny blues and after he was done we waited about 5 minutes. i punched distressed rabbit into the foxpro and let it run at about half throttle. maybe 3 minutes into the foxpro i saw movement about 100 down the woods. when she went behind a top, i moved the 10 guage toward where i saw her and snapped off the safety. thats when the shaking began.holy cow. i couldn't look down the barrel because of how bad i was shaking. i had to remind myself to use the bead on the shotgun. she started coming closer. it was coming almost head on but just slightly to my left. she would stop and look at the decoy for a couple seconds and then she would come closer. she did this about 5 times. the first stop she made i wished i had the 243 but she kept coming. she would put her nose into the air when she stopped but the wind was hitting in the face with a slight right to left movement. she kept coming. the last stop she made was within 40 yards but she was behind a tree. she kept coming. when she would move i would reposition myself . finally  she moved into my shooting lane and i think i had my head down on the barrel. BLAM. dead right there. HOLY COW!!!  i was trying to put the foxpro to ki yi on my preset but couldn't hit the buttons because of how bad i was still shaking. i told dad to wait a couple minutes to see if another would come up to us. i couldn't take it. i had enough waiting. it might have been a minute of us sitting there before i turned the caller off. dad couldn't see the coyote till almost when i shot. he thought i was gonna let it go, he told me "shoot harold shoot!" but i didn't hear him. she was a 28.55 lb female. number 86 at the mosquito creek weigh in.

sweet.  great looking coyote.  good job.  isn't it great when ya get to shaking like that?  that is the reason we do what we do.

thanks everyone. i know dad was pumped also this weekend. we probably walked about 4 miles all weekend and saturday was crunchy snow. dad didn't need sleeping pills at all  :wink:    how do you make the picture larger? i don't seem to know how yet. thanks

thanks. i know i had buck fever before but this didn't compare. felt like it took 10 minutes for it to get into the shooting lane but it couldn't have been but a couple minutes. i'm still not sure if i was putting the bead on it  or not. we didn't recover too many pellete from her.    :roll:    i know i kept telling myself to keep my head down but i know i was watching her come alot.
