if that's all it takes, I'll bring him a jug of store bought Muscadine along up... got a winery 2 counties over that's all they make... they do a really nice sweet red called Hatteras Red... most excellent vino there... why I'll even dig into my private stock and bring him a bottle of Reel Red up...

Awesome tool those cable restraints... Only thing knocking them down are  the deer... Monday check I'd thought after that wind storm Sunday night that I'd be resetting most of my restraints...They were all up except one or two and they did look like a deer knocked them down.

I used a shovel to push snow off parking area, the driveway can melt on it's own...
A fella called this morning and said he caught a Red in a cable and ask if I would show him how to skun it.
This same guy has brought 10 Reds to me this season that he skun, balls & pecker left on, lower lip left on, A-hole left on. I told him, next time you catch one, bring it over so I can show you how to do it. That went well and he understands how to do it now. Glad he stopped in and wanted to learn. I told him, next year, you are boarding and drying your own fur...lol.
His Red this morning was a female in heat. I ask if he had more cables nearby and he said NO.
I told him to go back and hang more cables because there will be males following. He then said there were alot of other Red tracks in the snow up and down that trail. We had talked before and during the season and I schooled him about the importance of multiple cables on trails, especially mating season. He seen it first hand this morning, in fresh snow.
I shoveled snow, skun, fleshed and boarded a Red, cut a small tree down, got tractor pulled limbs over to burn pile, cut logs and stacked 'em, by then right hand, thumb & trigger finger were froze like a popsicle and called it quits for the day. Removed boots, coveralls & coat at the back door and wife said, I got the Brine ready! Darn, I forgot...am going to smoke a Salmon fillet tomorrow. So we mixed up a brine, added Salmon and in the frig till tomorrow morning.
Enjoy being retired, had other stuff to do today, but that will be for another time.
Wife is making S.O.S. today, one of my favorites. (venison dry beef)

Goosewit, next time tell your daughter you want to eat breakfast inside and not at the picnic table on the patio.

Come on Hern.  They are not that bright down in Gooseville.
"Predators are either active & feeding, semi-active & callable, or utterly inactive & then practically speaking, no call is needed; we're just taking our guns for a walk. We can & should get used to it, & follow their leed cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow our’s any time soon!
