Light Use At Night Question

(1/1)

TheBig1:
Ok, so you're hunting at night.  I'm assuming that the lights needed are a long range, possibly barrel mounted light, as well as a good headlamp.

My question is this, how do you use the two?  Meaning, is your larger, long range light left on at all times to scan or is it left off while you scan with your headlamp and then turned on when eyes are seen?

Ayunk04:
Scan with headlamp untill you see eyes then turn the gun light on. I keep my headlamp on them up until I shoot. The lights your camouflage so always keep a light on them at all times

TheBig1:
Thank you Ayunk, I appreciate it.

Bigcat:
I use the scan light till I'm ready to shoot if the eyes are coming. Then turn the shooting light on and drop it down on the critter and shut off my scan light.  If it hangs up I will turn it on to try to id it for a shot.

takemrarely:
one thing I have learned is to cock your scan light a little to the right, (right handed shooter), so that when you go to switch to the gun light, you don't light yourself or your gun barrel, scope up........
