Strum, Ruger & Company
« on: March 12, 2015, 04:24:57 PM »
;) ;) ;) I would like to let everyone know how pleased I am with this fine professional company. I had a problem with my son's new Ruger American that I received in October. I took it to a local gunsmith and he recommended I send it back to the factory. Well, long story short...I called Ruger customer service and the rifle was picked up at my home and returned to my home in less than a month with a new barrel. This service far exceeds the time frame I was anticipating...This was a very fast turn around....I have nothing to say but Good about Ruger....Yea I'll buy another one for sure!! :) :) :) :) :) :)

The Ruger Predator has a 1:8 twist, and Lil Goose claimed the Mossberg Patriot in 22-250  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

that 1-8" is a good one, it should shoot up to 77gr nicely... makes a good mid range deer gun... Black Hills turn out a 77gr OTM {open tip match} round that shoots extremely well in both my AR's, and they're 1-9" twist...if you roll your own you should be able to go up to 80gr without a problem...

a quick search and I came up with the Patriot having a 1-14" twist... that's unfortunate, as you're pretty much limited to 55gr and lighter bullets... if you do load you may be able to push a 60gr fast enough to get it to stabilize, but I've never had any luck with any of the 22-250's I've ever owned... but then again I have killed a bunch of deer with a 55gr bullet in the 22-250... you just need to pick your shots and hold'em tight... head shots and slip a good lead tipped bullet between the ribs, will take'm down quickly... stay away from the big bones, shoulder blades, spine, pelvis etc...

that 55gr Sierra is a real deer killer... if you can find them Winchester makes a 64gr SP that smashes deer also... to heavy for the 250 but your gun will handle them nicely...

try loading some of those Sierra's up for the younger... he'll be ready for anything then...

My Encore 24 inch 22250 wow does that shoot the Nosler .224 Partition bullets so well.. I have yet to use it for deer but does it group so nice...I'd have to look but I think Denny The F from another site turned me on to use the IMR 4350 powder and he was so right...

yeah 4350 does real well in the 22-250, it's one of my favorites... your T/C 22-250 barrel is a 1-12" twist so it'll shoot up to 65gr bullets well... I like the 64gr W/W for smacking deer when I can find them... I normally buy 500 to 1000 at a time,  just so I have them when I want'em...
