Finally Pulled the Trigger on a new Rifle
« on: February 15, 2016, 03:33:16 PM »
Well I finally pulled the trigger. I bought a Savage Axis XP Camo 243.

It just got to be too much into, etc... to think about anything else.

I based my purchase on cost, need for a dual purpose rifle, and camo.

I've read that the Savage Axis is one of the best budget rifles on the market.

Awesome Chad! I love my savage axis xp. You'll be happy with it. One question, does the General know about it?  :o Lol

Ray, believe it or not, the General sanctioned it.

One question about your XP, how's the trigger? I've heard that it's bad or is it just not perfect for some people's liking?

That's great! Glad she gave you the green light.  ;D  I'm very satisfied with the trigger on my xp. I'm not sure what people would dislike.... It has the accu trigger and has a good bit of adjustability. You can tweak it to your liking (stiffer or lighter pull) if the factory setting isn't comfortable for you. I'm assuming yours has the accu trigger as well? I think they're pretty much standard on the axis xp.

No, the XP doesn't come with an Accutrigger.  Not sure if it's all of them but at least the camo one doesn't.

I guess I can't give an opinion on the trigger then.  Sorry bud.... The savage xp's are a solid performer though. I've heard a lot of good reviews on them. I think you made a good investment and that you'll be happy with it.

The trigger was ok...if I remember I measured it over 7lbs and crisp...but I made it alittle softer for myself..

Well I finally picked it up last night due to the fact that it didn't come in on Friday.

Man is that a sweet looking rifle!  Now I'm dying to get out and shoot it.  I ended up picking up 2 boxes of Hornady Reduced Recoil 87gr.
