I need some light help/advice
« on: November 20, 2011, 01:13:05 PM »
I hunt with a Cabelas Gobler Lounge seat, Remington .17 Fireball, Leupold 1.5x5x illuminated reticle scope, Harris Bi-pod, and a Kill Light 250.  In years past I felt I was pretty successful but now I am noticing that it is a struggle to hold the kill light and try to find the animal in the scope and then shoot the tiny target.  I guess I am wondering if I put the kill light mount on my gun with a 100 kill light will it be centered with the scope or since it sits high will it never quite line up correctly with the scope?

Maybe I should just give up on the gun and get a shotgun so I have a greater margin of error when shooting since most my critters are 50 yards.

I guess I am looking for some help from some of you that have it figured out.  I thought I did but found that I don't.  Thanks in advance!

Mike

I got a light mounted to my scope and it lines up good.  its a plastic mount that boondock sells.  never had a problem with it lining up with the shot.

Thanks Big Ben.  Is it the 100 or the 250?  I have found the 250 sometimes spooks fox or causes them to leave sooner than dimmer lights so I am thinking of getting a 100 for the scope perhaps?  What are you using...what has been your experience on burning out critters?

This what works for me. Kill light is Mounted on a 223 Savage rifle. Easy to get off and on. Light is allways dead center in the crosshairs.

Wow...that looks identical to my scope.  What are the specs on it?

Is that the scope attachment that comes with the kill light?

The scope is a leupold 4.5x14 30mm tube for better light gathering. It also has a illuminated cross hair. The mout that holds the light on is called a bicycle mount. I believe that one of our member (whitenuckle)  here sells them.

What power do you keep your scope on when shooting predators?

Get the quick mount everyone here has said about and get the halo shield from boondocks to go with it. It keeps the light from reflecting off your gun barrel and you can adjust the angle of the light beam to the scope at various distances.
