Post by: Hern on March 09, 2016, 08:33:10 PM
This topic has been started for folks to ask questions on any subject.
Goose and Jaspr are ole coots that have been around, experience and done or witness it.
Goose and Jaspr1 will answer any and all questions on a variety of subjects. From hunting to sports to politics to the latest fashions and fads. Soups to nuts or 'how-to'.
I'll start...

What round will PSU quarterback, Christen Hackenburg, be drafted?

Should I stop wearing socks with my sandals?

Question-
-Why do you two guys use so many 'smiley & google eyes' icons in every post or reply? Can't you get your point across without them? Or Do you think icons are 'cute'?

Now this is a subject I can sink my teeth into. :o :o

Goose, the home just called me and wants to know the GPS coordinates to the spot where you and jaspr1 were coyote hunting.  Seems the TRD got bogged down with mud and he can't make it out.  They are going to pick him up in the short bus.  If you want to save your buddy I need those coordinates so I can pass them on to the bus driver. ;D ;D ;D

Q1:  :) Hern don't be ridiculous  ::) we do that for L$F he's just learning to read and likes to look at the cartoon faces  ;D ;D    Q2: L$F:  Tell the BUS Driver to come to Cameron Co. and bring a tow chain  :P We are right next to the spot where all the FISHER TRACKS are. See you soon  ;D    Q3: CJ if you can get her to drop her "panties " a bit so we can see the front sight we will be able to help you  ;) ;) and CJ75 seems a bit bland...  :( try adding "Magnum" or "Turbo"  :-\  "CJ75 Magnum"see it gives it a flair like the "Marlboro Man".... ;D ;D ;D ;D.........."Brushwolf stop laughing you will get Hic-cups! :P :P..................... 8) Almost missed Jake..........Jake I have to answer a question with a question. I have no idea but I wonder if his wife left him out of the truck yet? I don't wish to sound like a sore knife loser but I've been hanging with feather mites lately and I hope some jumped on him. He should have been doing spring rake and clean=up and not in the woods...just sayin...

Goose I am amazed at your wealth of knowledge.  I went out to the gun safe and sure as heck my XD was missing.  She must of borrowed last time she was visiting.

Now if I change my name to CJ75 Magnum will all the other old coots be jealous of my new status?  Or is it just symbolic, and how do I do it?

How many Fox & Coyote are living in my area?
Title: Re: Ask Goose & Jaspr...
Post by: Pa Goosehntr on March 11, 2016, 08:21:04 AM
;) ;) ;) ;) Just enough to keep your interest and keep a balance of their food chain. However, with the building developments continuing, your said population may be decreasing overall as habitat is lost.  :( :( :( The one that leaves you presents in your driveway you may want to make into a pet.  :) :) :) :)  The coyote population however is expanding as they have a habit of adapting to changes in their food sources....developments = fluffy, and jo-jo as a new food source, and living under someone's deck.. :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

:) That's a tough one  :P but fortunately I had advanced math in HS and passed  ;D Where C=coyotes in A=area and F=fox in b+area and C=total area encompassing the overlapping area then OLA=said area..

C X 2 (A-OLA)-FA1 X OLA3 + 2 X (OLA-F X C=A=F)=2

Hern there are .........."2"................... ;).......................... 8)

Jasper 1
I was busy checking the times on my worm trail cams.
That way tonight when every thing in time Springs ahead I will not having to up date my log books for the time change.
You never know how the time change can affect of mink feeding times.
If a mink runs 5 mph how far can he go in one hour.
I want to see if Lookn4wisdom can help with questions.
Goosebumps and Jasper1 do not help him out. This may help him figure out how far the fishers truly were from his traps.

Lookn4anyonetotalkto, am not suppose to answer questions on here. It's Goose & Jaspr show.
I'll try to sneak your question in, because they will get off track with more than two ingredients.

Lookn4answers asks-
TPHern, Why don't you mix lemon with cream in your tea?
Same reason I don't mix it with coffee.
Years ago, Cream served a usefulness in tea.
The British started the habit to put cream in tea. (cream poured first, ole boy)
Cream in their tea originated when they discovered a drop or two of cold milk in the tea cup (first) prevented boiling tea to crack or stain delicate porcelain. I don't use fine porcelain, hence, I drink it straight. Todays cups, you can safely pour milk in afterwards.
Lemon in tea served as favoring. Favoring only.

Scenario #3.

Let's say you place something where you can find it, on the middle of a bench let's say. She knows it has some significant value, does not know what is,🤔,  so it is "put away"😡😡😡😡.  Meaning you will ask her what happened to it when you need it, she will tell you she's never heard of it😬😬😬, you won't  ever find it untill 10 yrs later in the bottom of a drawer of some stand that you have never opened in your life😬😬😬 only word of advice,  never do it with her things! 😜😜😜

Why are women always right?

Why do women spot a snake before a man, but can't find him a Phillips Head in his tool box?

I am not Goose or Jasper but I can answer that.  You condition them into thinking they are right because you tell them they are.  You have to start proving that they are wrong.  Sheesh, you think you old guys would have this figured out already. ;D ;D ;D

A friend of mine sold a little over 200 reds at NAFTA he ended up with $9.85 after the commission was paid. People that sold there furs early in the season averaged twice that.
But at least they my have bottomed out. So hopefully they have no place to go but up from here.
This will be an interesting year.

Local fur buyears will be giving less so they can at least make a buck or two.
However easter reds have almost always sold. Not like raccoons. My fur buyers averaged .98 cents for the last lot she sold. They were purchased by speculators. So they are setting in storage until a fur manufacturer needs them.

A book without pictures?  Might as well just staple some papers together as far as I'm concerned. Reading stuff is for that English major Sonny.
As far as Sonny tagging along? From what I been hearing he has tagged along with everybody that ever hunted or owned a gun so far and still ends up empty handed. He might need more pictures.

O-He was at my shot out spots, the forrest service wanted to know why there were little notes laying all over the back roads. I told them they were cue cards!!  He asked how can that be? None of them had more then one word on each cue card. I said I know.

 >:( Actually it's not that easy  >:( How long is the crayfish? Does it have both claws? What gender is it? Weight? Did it go in head first or tail first or perhaps sideways? Was it a soft shell? What was the temperature of the water? Was it covered in slime, fishing line or other debris? Night or day? Sunny or precip/cloudy? How large was the Bass? Did it have any stomach problems/ulcers/pollution problems? How many crayfish were already in there? You see Goose this could just go on and on...Hern didn't provide necessary info to calculate an answer  :P He's looking for 2 minutes 37 seconds which would be the average time to die for an average crayfish eaten by an average Bass with an empty stomach on a 70 degree day with full sun and 65 degree water..............good question Hern hopes this clears it up a little for you....... 8)

Bluetooth was named after a tenth-century king, Harald Bluetooth, King of Denmark and Norway. (Also known as Harald Bluetooth Gormson or Harald I of Denmark) Bluetooth is an anglicized version of Harald Blaatand, who was known for his unification of previously warring tribes from Denmark (including now Swedish Scania).

Let's stay on topic here please.  Sheesh, it must be time for a nap or something. ;D ;D ;D ;D

For coyote and fox.  What fur friendly factory 223 ammo would you suggest for an 18" 1 in 8 twist barrel and why?  And don't tell me I will have to experiment to see what shoots best.  and I realize I may have to shoot different rounds for each predator.  >:( >:( >:(  I want answers!

:) So easy a question!  ;D ;D Shoot anything they have that's on SALE  ::) ::) Doesn't really matter with you behind the trigger  :P doesn't get much more fur friendly then that  ;D ;D ;D That 18 inch barrel 1 in 8 twist is fine for you ...might have velocity concerns and bullet stability concerns out past 300 meters  :-\  but since you have trouble hitting paper at 30 feet  :( this shouldn't be an issue  ::) ::) ::)............................. 8)  BTW no smart A$$ response as we have Jake to back us up on your shooting ability!!!!    LOL
Title: Re: Ask Goose & Jaspr...
Post by: Lookn4Fur on September 29, 2017, 08:16:10 AM
That holds no water!  Jake has only ever seen me miss one time and I severely misjudged the distance on a fox.  I killed everything I ever shot at when I was with him.  I take that back, plus the hail mary shot at 5,000 yards with a 22 hornet.  I just grazed it's back.   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I give you an honest question in the hopes of keeping your activity level up for the day and you still can't answer my question.  I am going to rename this thread to "Ask the OLD COOTS but don't expect an honest answer". ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have done plenty of homework on the subject but thought with age came wisdom.  Boy was I wrong.  CupcakesAnchor and Sparky are losing brain cells at an alarming rate.

I didn't want to know what you shoot or use, but rather, "What fur friendly factory 223 ammo would you suggest for an 18" 1 in 8 twist barrel and why?  I will give you one more chance before I pull your Dear Abby credentials. :o :o :o :o

Our local Kmart is closing and has storewide discounts.
Wife told me to stop at Kmart & buy a couple of pair of pants.
I listen to her, I went to Kmart. I came home with a robe.

Why do folks call pants, a pair of pants?

Don't think too much of that answer.
Goose, you are confusing.
My shirts have two arms. Nobody calls them a pair of shirts.

:) What we now call “pants” or “trousers” were originally known as “pantaloons,” after Pantalone, a stock character in 16th century Italian commedia dell’arte (theatrical comedy) usually portrayed as an old man wearing short, baggy pants. The Anglicized form “pantaloon” soon appeared in English meaning “a foolish old man” (as in Shakespeare’s “lean and slippered pantaloon” from As You Like It), but the term was also applied to the Pantalone style of trousers, eventually giving us the shortened form “pants.” But “pants” in the 16th century differed from today’s jeans in that each leg was a separate garment, donned in succession and then belted together at the waist. Thus it made sense to call these “two-piece britches” a “pair” of pants, and the usage stuck long after pants were unified. We speak of “a pair” of shorts or swimming trunks because of the precedent set by “pants.”

Us "Old Coots" were around when it was fashionable to wear these single leg garments...LOL..... 8)

"My shirts have two arms. Nobody calls them a pair of shirts" Now on this shirt issue.. ??? ??? ??? ??? Larry the Cable Guy doesn't have sleeves on his shirt but it's still called a shirt...so why would you ask about pairs of shirts when not all have sleeves/arms??  :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

Thanks for your concern. I have never thought I was not invited for breakfast.
I just have not felt like taking the 1 1/4  hr drive one way to the other joint. I went one or two times, that was enough.  The 2 1/2 hr  round trip to eat breakfast and meat for an hour requires some planning for the day.

Well I see the happy loser must have fell down a bank and hit his head this time. Did you report that to your wife!!! Someday you'll learn that anytime you step over a 6 inch drop off that becomes a cliff for you.
Also do not get confused, I was not refusing to sit with the group of people.
This is a group breakfast, a loser does not get to chose who cones to this breakfast. I told you before Goosebumps is tired of making all the BIG decisions for you!!! He is retired.
Now you want to start something with pore old misterjake. He must not have set next to you either.
But just to show you I can be a sore winner, I will make it to a breakfast that Quattro picks since he is the only working man here.  Now do not go calling him every 15 min complaining about stuff or the location he chooses that just might happen to be close to my and his house.

Ok, Is anybody following this North Korea stuff.  One month ago our Administration was saying that in 3 months North Korea could be a fully functioning nuclear power and we might have to react soon.
Now North Korea wants to have a possible meeting in 2 months. No one seams to mentions that this gives Rocket man the three months he needed. Why can they not have the meeting tomorrow?

Well today I am just going to say I feel just a little uneasy now that you and Goosebumps are functioning as one arm of the Homeland Security and calling it a team.
But now knowing this information, it reminds me I have a project that needs finished quickly.  That would be to complete the bomb shelter faster.

Jasper1 and Goosebumps
You guys keep me entertained. I truly look forward to you replys.
But remember it takes 3THA3RC (3 to have a three ring circus.)
Here this is an example below of what young people may be using as a reference.
Shocked me to see even a young guy like Hern had to have looked up an answer.
