Title: Snake hunting
Post by: Buckwheat on April 03, 2015, 09:08:32 PM
How many of you guys snake hunt. I am going to try again this year for a yellow Rattlesnake. It gets harder every year for me to walk far so I figure I better get it done. Any body else interested in hunting let me know. I have a camp in Clinton county we can hunt out of if need be.

You are hitting all the correct places to see snakes. You are biking were they like to sun them self. Both those type places is were snake hunters look. You may be seeing most of the snakes in the area.

My son and I came across 20 plus last spring and early summer had a few close calls you come up on them pretty fast on a bike when there stretched out across the road I had some great pics on my old phone one was of a yellow rattlesnake stretched out the whole length of the logging road and as big a round as a softball biggest one I ever saw it usually gets to the point where I have to stop riding and hiking up there cause there just everywhere

I might have to check that out. If you can send me some map locations so I can check them out. I would really like to find a big yellow one. Any help you can give me would be realy nice and would be appreciated.
Send information to ewcalls@gmail.com so I can see were to search for snakes.

Buckwheat if you want to do a closer hunt, you might try the top of the Tuscarora Mtn. off rt 74 north of Ickesburg. Some of this is SGL,there is parking,go East toward the Pwr. line..should be buzzing shortly...I saw a yellow phase there. Also, West of Miffintown in the State Forest where the road runs along Licking Creek, I have seen them there while trout fishing and my father in law took a large one there some years back. Some of the places I fish for trout my wife won't get out of the car..hahaha..I will watch and if I see one I will contact you asap...When's the season? I don't hunt them,I just leave them be and observe....... 8)
