Post by: Buckwheat on September 30, 2014, 10:08:13 AM
PPHA  Members the Carnivore Lights are here.
These lights have taken a long time to get made but the end result is they are worth the time spent getting to the finished products. Check them out! These lights are the best Red Leds light ever offered. You will never need a light to replace these with function or for output power. There is no Red Led light made by anyone this controllable and this powerfull.

It use to be if you wanted to shine far and see clearly you needed white light. With the new Carnivore 2 you can see clearly out to 300 yards and still gage the distance like a white light. You can see well enought to shoot a fox at 500 yards if you have the skill.
Just think all this power and no loss of your night vision!
These Carnivore red led lights are better then any one has used for night hunting in the history of hunting.

Damn nice looking lights!! ? About the headmount light does it have a built in halo shield??
Title: Re: Carnivore Lights
Post by: Buckwheat on October 06, 2014, 09:20:24 PM
Brushwolf
If you use a halo shield you make it easy for other critters to see you. You hide behind the light beam and the halo. Have someone shine a light on you that the beam is not on you just the halo of the light and you can not see anything behind the light. This has been a big mistake that a lot if hunters make. The beam and the halo is your shield to hide behind.
Test it and you will understand.

Post by: Brushwolf on October 06, 2014, 09:57:11 PM
I will have to deffently test that out. was always told to use a halo sheild so the light does not splash on my rifle or on myself. I will have to do testing this weekend. I been thinking about going back to a headlight again.

Title: Re: Carnivore Lights
Post by: Carl on October 06, 2014, 11:52:14 PM
I like hearing facts too! I'm considering ordering a carnivore light. My question is, does it have/come with a remote switch?

Guys that are using this light, are you also scanning with a headlamp and just using the carnivore to shoot with? It sounds like this light is quite a bit brighter then my kill light or my wicked light. Last season I bought a night eyes headlamp and although I like the light, I did better the season prior when I used my gun light only to scan every few moments and then shoot when presented with the opportunity.

Back closer on topic I don't use a halo shield on my gun light, but there is one on my headlamp. I thought I was going to be a cool cat and put white snow tape on my gun and barrel. I found out real quick that it reflected like crazy from my scope mounted light.

the other night I gave  the new Carnivore Head and Carnivore shooting light a try out... The wind was in my face.  I was shooting a 17 Hornet Encore sitting in a tripod shooting rest... Carnivore light on my head and the Carnivore shooting light on a Nikon 4 X 12 BDC scope.. Both lights were turned on when I started calling with a bulb squeaker...At the 5 minute mark I saw eyes just on the horizon.... The predator stopped and staired into the direction of my calling... I decided to go to a Peewee Crit-R-Call and do the dying rabbit...The predator eyes disappeared but all of a sudden I could see the predator trying to make an arc down wind of my position...At the far right which was about  250 yards away I saw with the Carnivore head light that it was a gray fox.. The fox was trying to get behind me to smell me since the wind was in my face... I set up however that when it came in a farm obstacle was in it' path and he no longer could circle down wind of me... He  came in fast from my right side...I stepped behind the Carnivore shooting light that was on my scope and shut off my Carnivore head light... I kept calling because he was liking how fast and the gournd he was covering... At the 75 yard mark and right in front of my... I looked down the scope tube found his red eyes from the Carnivore light on top of the scope and made the shot... Remember now I saw that it was a gray  fox at the  250 yard mark... I can't wait until I call in some coyotes with these two Carnivore lights....I have called in many a coyote in Pa to date... My problem is that you have to make sure they are not a deer... This time frame where you trying to get your lights to ID the animal as targeted or nontargeted give the paranoid coyote time to decide something just ain't right down there where all the calling is coming from...   Like  how I could ID  that the fox was a gray fox at  250 yards... I will be doing that now on coyotes ASAP. and Bang... Keep up the good work Ernest Wilson... I can't wait until archery season is over so I can hit the predators big time... By the way  the prices on the two lights were outstanding too!!!!!

I am happy you like this light. With your experance in hunting at night. Do you think you would ever have to purchase another light to make your night hunting better? I am thinking any stronger output with the material currently available there might not be any real benefit for the aditional cost it would take to make something better.

I  also noticed that that both lights batteries lasted a lot longer then my other shooting lights...Previously I purchased your tripod light holder that attached inside the side of the tripod arm..  I had to use a red led on the scope and one of the  250 Killlights on the side of the tripod.. I don't have to do that now with your new Carnivore shooting lights...I also like what a nice price you have on the head light.  Low price but a quality light for seeing eyes and hiding behind it without a hood on the light...The blinking light function also comes in handy if you want to let your shooters know it's time to move on to a new calling spot... They see the blinking lights on the Carnivore Head and know it's time to pick up and go back to the vehicle.. However what ever you do... Never activate that blinking light when your driving behind a vehicle... they will think your the police and pull over... you could get fined for that big time too!!!  LOL  I think of all kind of things you can do with those lights.. But make sure I don't activate that blinking light in the vehicle in error..

The one question I ask you and am concerned with is do you think I should look at makeing a more powerful gun light. I feel there is no need. What is you input

No your Caranvore lights both the magnum gun light and the new Carnivore head light are perfect for the predator hunter that wants a quality light! Why pay the big bucks for other brands! I'm looking forward to using it now and into the future too!

Buckwheat,

Why have a brighter light when most people aren't shooting further than your light already shines.  Sorta like using a deer rifle tp shoot squirrels....Bigger isn't always better.

Misterjake23
That was my question. There has to be a point were more light output for hunting at night can never be utilized. Right now these Carnivore light are the most powerful red light ever sold. I mean think about it you can now see over 500 yards and clearly see an animials full body at 325 yards and even see down to there feet with the Carnivore Magnum 2 on a dirt field with a good scope.
And for the guys that are after light shy critters you can dim all the Carnivore lights down to the out put of a match!
So my point is should I biuld something better. Do not forget to make better would most likely cost more.  Well let me hear what other PPHA members think.
Title: Re: Carnivore Lights
Post by: uncle buck on November 09, 2014, 02:47:13 PM
The lights are tools.. They are not only for shooting... they are to hide behind too.. Hence why I have learned that I like more red LED... Coyotes also flank you from the side.. if you have an inadequate light to hide behind they are going to bust you... Your calling and all of a sudden there they are looking at you from the side... They like to use this tactic!!! I keep my shooting light on and my scanning light on while I call.. I shut the scanning light off when  I look down the scope tube to shoot... The dual effect of both lights hide you from the predators..The shooting light takes over as your stealth factor once the scanning light is shut off... you shut your head light off so it does not shoot glare down your scope tube...

Buckwheat, my opinion is, why go further? I don't feel it's necessary.
Seeing full body at 325 yards is plenty.
I'm using the Carnivore 5 and that fits my needs for Grey Fox and Coon. Never took yardage with the C5, but it really lights 'em up before they get into gun range.

Thanks. That is how I feel. To see and shoot a small redfox at over 300 yards is more then we will ever need. I shoot with professional equipment and 300 yards at night is a big boy shot hands down.
Title: Re: Carnivore Lights
Post by: Hern on November 10, 2014, 06:09:31 AM
I use ewcalls (which brings 'em close) and don't have to shoot 300 yards  ;D.

I use .223, .22mag and 12 ga. w/3 1/2" rounds either gun is for maximum range, but I still want to call 'em closer.   ??? ;D

We are talking about 'seeing and calling' at night. I feel your lights fit the bill for all predator hunters nation wide, not just my neck of the woodz.
Buckwheat continue to focus on quality, pricing and service. Then market the heck out of your top-notch products.
And thanks for the fast service on sending me the gun/light mounts.

Well I just read your post and I was very happy to see my statements made were good enought to get reprinted. That in it's self is a mile stone mark for me. But you being a junior GURU I can only be just a little happy about the reprint. I mean if it was from George or Ben i would have framed it. But anyway so be it and it is what it is.
PLease also do not drag Goose into this great sales pitch. He might have hit his head harder then you think. He still uses that old rusty single shot damascus barrel shot gun with the forarm taped on. This new ammo is going to blow that gun up some day and i do not want my high quility professional grade light damaged when that happens.
Also i have never concidered you a knuckle dragging ridge runner. I know inbreeding can cause some problems but not that.
Any how I hope you like the new light when and if it ever gets there. Also I know it can be boring living in the wild but do not just set there and stare into the red led light it can hurt your eyes.

You are correct about Goosee. He would have exploded if he did not make a comment.  By the way why would anybody think this **** is ridiculous. Only a woman would say something so dumb.  I feel right at home wearing mine just walking around.  Especially in a restaurant or a bar with my headlight on.  Besides if drop say a penny or something on the floor in a dark bar i can turn the light on and find it. I think it would be ridiculous not to have one at times like that.
Good luck hunting and do get pissed when you see a coyote at over a hundred yards.

I just got my  2nd Carnivore 2 shooting light today...Like them big time... Son likes them too. Hence why I got another one...So nice to hide behind...Fox don't even know your there.. I had one come into my calling the other night when I put the Carnivore 2 direct beam on him.. He sat down and just looked at me not more than 70 yards away... OOPS mistake.. the  17 Hornet spoke and he was a gonner...We are liking the scanning lights too.. Stealth that what it's all about...I tell you what back in 2011 I made a family trip to North East Texas.  Met two friends down there.. Actually Ernie is friends with them too.. Just watching them how they hunt I came back to Pennswoods and changed how I set up for predators.. My kills and call ins have increased greatly now.. However with these two new lights they have even made it better.  keep up the good work Ernest... I appreciate the product that you sell....

Glade you guys like the lights. I am already am working on next years lights. I know people get upset when i make new stuff expecially after you make a purchase.  When I make the best I can at great prices other companys like to copie your product or try and pick it apart. It is just the nature of business in the usa. So to stay competive it is nessary.
But i can say this, this years lights are good enought you will never have to upgrade.
Unclebuck and Jasper1 Iam glade you like them as much as i do.
I am also happy jasper1 is not blind and Tim go to bed. Buck you just keep killing critters.
Title: Re: Carnivore Lights
Post by: uncle buck on November 26, 2014, 04:24:21 PM
I don't if you need a new light for the coming year Ernie.. The critters pretty much just put there hands up in the air and give up once hit with that Carnivore 2 shooting light.. What a pleasure and a high  to see the entire fox at 200 yards or so...During the rutt you have to watch those small doe.. they coming running into the call just like a coyote... The Carnivore 2 ID's them as a nontargeted animal so much better then the 250 Kill lights or even previous year model lights too..  I would like to make a recommendation to anyone that does buy the Carnivore 2 shooting and head light.. make sure you buy some batteries from Ernie too. They work a lot better with this light then all of the other batteries I have obtained from all of the previous shooting lights I have purchased..The other batteries will just frustrate you...So the not only are the Carnivore 2 lights better so are the batteries that Ernie sells now too..
Title: Re: Carnivore Lights
Post by: uncle buck on November 26, 2014, 04:47:00 PM
I learned my technique from the Dennis Kirk Play book..This was back  in  1986.  the Texacans hunt  180 degrees in another direction... Kirk... sending people down 100 yards down wind from his calling was what he use to stress or maybe setting up so the fox is in range at a arc or turn in the field... They hunt with the wind in their face.. They told me they don't worry about the predators that get down wind.. they are going to bust you anyway.  So I hunt with the wind in my face and the predators just come in being  hidden behind the red lens lights they don't even know I'm there... I also will set up with an obstacle on my downwind side... Farmers house, Barn, Equipment, heavy rock formations.  They can't  circle downwind and go through a barn...Coyotes are the toughest however because they truly do come in from where ever they want and they will use obsticles to protect their hairy aurz!  Like come to your calling right through a corral that has a horse in it...So you the mammal got to think like the coyote the mammal.. What he does to you you do it to them to... Hence instead of going into the pool hall and just shoot at the balls you go into the pool hall shoot at a ball and try to set yourself up for the next shot too..  Ask yourself what can I do on this farm the Mr. Coyote will become vunerable if he comes to my call?  So you pretty much have to know the lay of the lands that your hunting on.. To go blindly to a new farm would still be a plus for the coyote..
