Title: Anyone use a 308 Varmint rig to hunt predators and chucks?

I did a post on sabots for the 308...See so many gun mfg that make the 308 in the varmint round... Probably for shooting metal targets in competition...However....If you could use the .224 sabots the 308 might be a good outfit to own in the varmint model? especially for the one gun varmint and predator hunter.  Gee you could use it for deer let say when you hunt big open fields and you can shoot them at 200-300 yards away too...Sure would not want to lug out a buck from the Upper Forty with a Varmint rifle hanging on my shoulder?
