im a newbie to predator hunting and would like to start out on coyotes , is the 22 mag with 40 grain hollow points enough gun?? also have a model 7 in 7-08, any thoughts?

With this years fur prices,( $5 coyotes)
and you just starting out, I'd say go with the 7mm-08 you might have to sew
the fur some if you want to tan it for a trophy, but I'd hate to see you loose your first one, with a less then perfect head shot
with the 22 mag,not that you shouldn't use it, but even in the heart and lungs, they will still run a bit
Take the 22 mag on your second one.
Good luck

forgot to add also have 12 and 20 ga shot guns , thinking rifle would be better choice??

I'd use the shotgun for thick, tight hunting areas
and the rifle for open fields or any spot where you can see them coming in time.
Me, I miss with both
