There is a fairly decent sized urban coyote population in this area.
If this one gets tested positive for rabies, I would guess there will be more to come. Bad part is once they get sick/crippled for whatever reason, they go for "easy pickins". Garbage, pet foots, pets, ect, and that is not a good thing.
