my first red fox *pics*

This morning my buddy, Larry and I set out to do some predator calling.  We met up, at the farm around 6 a.m.  On our first stand, there was just no action so we decided to sneak down the farm lane to where I have a few sets and have been seeing fresh tracks, regularly.

Once I was in place and ready, I whispered for Larry to begin calling.  Seconds after he let out a few soft notes, I noticed there was something jumping around in a blind set I hid within the fence row, bordering a cattle pasture.  Earlier in the year, whenever we would get a little bit of snow, I would go in search of fresh tracks and noticed that animals were using that section of fence to cross, quite a bit.  In all my excitement, I meant to whisper that I had something in one of my traps.  Instead of whispering, Larry, it came out LARRY...there's something in my blind set.  I couldn't move, but once he said yeah, looks like you caught a fox, I jumped up and ran all the way down the hill to it.  We laughed, because there we were, out calling and low and behold, I had already got my first red fox in one of my Sleepy Creek 1 3/4 OS Modified Coilspring traps.  It means a lot to me to have trapped my first sly vixen, but I would have been happy to call one in also.

What a day, I couldn't have asked for a better story behind getting my first red fox.  I hope that you enjoy the pictures. Sorry there are so many but I literally took 40 some pictures of her today.

Sly vixen
Nice pictures for sure!
I have been reading your post this fall; you are doing way to good this year. You will have to set some high goals for next year.
For a brief moment I could hear nature through all the noise.

A lot of it is luck, I believe.  However, almost everything I have learned has come from someone else.  I am learning so much about all these critters and I am enjoying every minute of it.  Thanks, for all of your kind comments.  I was dang proud of my first red, so I was wanting some special pictures of her.
