Title: Traps to trade
Post by: fgmc1221 on August 16, 2007, 01:02:12 PM
Anybody have  any good 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 coilsprings, ( perferably Montgomery) that would trade for my laminated, base plated #2 Victor coils? I added heavy #2 chain, new #2 montgomery springs, mid and end chain swivels and speed dipped. These are very good fox/coyote traps, just a little too big for non-target catches. I have 2 to 2 1/2 dozen set up this way that I would trade.

I have some 1.5 dukes and I think some 1.5 victors maybe 8 between the two if interested.

Maybe. If they are in top shape. The Victors, I would have to replace the chain unless you have changed it. Im not real fond of Duke 1/1/2 and needs work, unless you have already done it. (coyotes) How are the springs? My Victors are worth at least $100 a doz. with all the changes ive made to them. Dukes are about $60 a doz. new, but if you need a few I may trade a few. ( maybe two of yours for 1 of mine?)

Are your #2 victors round jaw or the old square jaw?

Hi Hern, The reason I change the chain and trap J hook is because last year I caught 42 fox, and caught 5 coyotes in my fox sets. If I dont, the trap will be gone. I do have some 1 3/4s that I like but I like the 1 1/2s to set where I might catch someones pet. I try to be extra carefull about that, but it does happen. Been doing this for a while and I kind of have my own ways, but always open to suggestions. I try to avoid the coyotes by huggin' the hole a little but still get some. If I have a place that I need to use a 1 1/2, at least if it has a strong chain and staked solid a coyote might pop the jaws, but the trap will still be there. ( and still easy on pets )
