I shot him with my ruger 556... I wanted to shoot the first fox with an AR rifle. Shot him at 12:02 Friday night put that gun away and brought out the 22 mag!  Those 223 hornady vmax do some scary stuff lol

I think it's the Vmax rounds period! I hear of guys tearing them up with a .17 hornet when using Vmax rounds.

I use the 17 hornet with V max.....  I take head shots for just that reason.   They are hit or miss with fur damage.

I agree about the VMax loads, I just switched to 55 gr soft points and they seem to be working better
