I refuse to shoot a cat while predator hunting. When I was a little kid I had this awesome cat that would come to his name, wait on a rock up the road for the bus and race through the field to meet me, and he loved sour cream and onion chips. We let a guy fox hunt our fields and after the 3rd time my cat disappeared. I looked for the the cat for weeks. I spent a lot of time crying too. My grandfather knew what happened, but never told me until I was older. (I realized then why that guy never was able to hunt on our property again.) The guy shot my cat on purpose because he didn't like cats.
One day years later in the store after I came home from Iraq and was on leave we ran into the guy. My grandfather introduced me and he didn't recognize me. He then said, "oh wait your the kid who's cat I shot." I said yeah that me #sshole and walked away.
So basically don't be a jerk and shoot a cat unless your 100% positive it belongs to no one. In most cases you don't know. We are predator hunters and I believe we have higher standards than the normal hunter.
