Anytime. There is another one out there I may have read in PredExtreme a few years back about a study a college did on cats. I couldn't find it but they kept a cat in a gymnasium or some large room and fed it and watered it everyday so that it had its fill. Then they introduced a mouse to the room and every time the cat would kill the mouse to play with it and it hardly ever actually ate it.
It was a good read.

I refuse to shoot a cat while predator hunting.  When I was a little kid I had this awesome cat that would come to his name, wait on a rock up the road for the bus and race through the field to meet me, and he loved sour cream and onion chips.  We let a guy fox hunt our fields and after the 3rd time my cat disappeared.  I looked for the the cat for weeks.  I spent a lot of time crying too.  My grandfather knew what happened, but never told me until I was older.  (I realized then why that guy never was able to hunt on our property again.)  The guy shot my cat on purpose because he didn't like cats.

One day years later in the store after I came home from Iraq and was on leave we ran into the guy.  My grandfather introduced me and he didn't recognize me.  He then said, "oh wait your the kid who's cat I shot."  I said yeah that me #sshole and walked away.

So basically don't be a jerk and shoot a cat unless your 100% positive it belongs to no one.  In most cases you don't know.  We are predator hunters and I believe we have higher standards than the normal hunter.

Well put Shadowchaser......my friends were looking for their cat which has gone missing...I told them maybe the coyotes that pass through their front yard got it...but my money is on one of the single digit IQ's that lives close to them probably shot or trapped it...What is the Official PPHA position on shooting cats?.....

Like i said in my earlier post, i am not a cat shooter.  Havent shot one yet.  But they are starting to get out of control in certain areas where people are just dropping them off and they are multiplying.  We have two cats in my house, one we got as a rescue cat and the other was a stray that we took in as a kitten.  both are house cats and never see the outside.  people need to be responsible cat owners and not let their cats run wild, they do a lot of damage to small wildlife.

I did have a feral cat issue when I bought my house...then the red fox made a den across the road.  Before that though they tore one of my cats up really bad one night.  I called the shelter and asked if I live trapped them if they would take them and they said no if they were feral.  I was about to do some house cleaning and then I saw a red fox with a dead cat one morning.  I haven't seen a feral in 2 years.  This summer though the fox hit me up for 21 chickens and a duck.  Time to hunt the yard, lol.

Guess I'm one of those single digit IQ fellas but if they loved their tabby or whatever ya wanna
call it then be freaking responsible for the animal. Lets look at the stray dog problem from the
same perspective. What happens when fido is out running free chasing deer or killing other game
animals. Its then legal to stop that threat and seize that feral dog by bullet. Look I have a dog and
he's very well behaved contributing member of our family. The moment he engages in unaceptable
behaviours he is a rogue dog it then falls on me to control this dogs actions co mpletely.  And again I
eliminate those threats as fast as possible. I'm not looking for any
help reducing these problem. More cats down I'm ok doing it all myself.
