JMO on Bee's post..1. Agree on the hunting raccoon and bobcats on Sunday..there aren't that many individuals doing this to cause any major impact. 2.Agree on Fishers, same reasoning. 3.They will just shoot coyotes and let them lay anyway..feel good move, I wouldn't support. 4.Maybe a closed period April 1 rhru July 31 to protect pup's..5.Agree on concurrent season's it would have little impact.... 8)

Why not?  If it was a PGC study, It should be public knowledge

This post probably won't win me any friends, but here goes.
(no disrespect intended).

For the life of me I can't understand why you would want to require a Furtakers license to shoot coyotes,

Hunter led efforts in general suffer because of the division within our own ranks.  Bowhunters are split by compound vs crossbow, M-loaders by flintlock vs. in-line, bow vs M-loader, callers vs. trappers...each special interest group fights for "their" rights and does not mind doing it at the expense of another group who they think has an unfair advantage.

To further divide because of coyotes being shot and left lay, (something that we have anecdotal stories of, but no numbers, or any indication that it is hurting the population), doesn't work for me.

How many Game Wardens would push a "wanton waste" charge for a coyote? How does that law even apply to coyotes, groundhogs, etc?

I get the whole "respecting the kill" thing, but truth be told, a coyote is killed to put a few bucks in your pocket.  If someone makes the decision not to drag the stinking carcass out of the woods and conduct the (let's face it), rather gruesome task of skinning out the animal for a $20 bill, that is kind of their choice.  Why does a coyote deserve more respect than a groundhog?

I believe that all varmints and predators should be allowed to be pursued on Sundays.

I think callers should get a shot at bobcats before trappers. They are catching most of them and lets face it, Traps are out 24hrs a day where the predator hunter might get out 3 hours a day and not everyday in most cases. But I'm biased.

Fishers? Yes, called and hunted.

I don't like deer hunters taking coyotes freely. Not only because of the ease at which they get them but because all of us are paying as much for another license in order to hunt them.

Remember I love coyotes, lots of coyotes! But remember why our PGC is liberal about hunting coyotes by the general license holder?  They don't want the population to bloom out if proportion. We can hunt them on Sunday, bait, first predator that we could use # 4 buckshot! No I have seen coyotes eat a lot of wild turkey! They are ALWAYS trying to score on deer!  Remember why Pa is so liberal on coyotes? It's not just for the PPHA!  It's to control them!  States like NJ and Ark are making money on the coyote hunter! Our PGC biologist are trying to keep populations in check!

Jeremy, TJ and the Prez have it right.  I bet we are still less than 200 paying members who should never butt heads w/the trappers or the hound men.  On our home page we take credit for doing what they worked on for years.  Why don't we sit down w/them and affiliate.  It is good for all.  A guy from Jersey that loves to spend his time and stash in PA.  Dick
