Naildriver and I went to the same spot, that I shot the red the other day, to try for his mate.
We saw eyes as soon as we crested a hill, and the fox was moving on his own to get to a standing cornfield.
One lip squeak. and he looked at us, at 100 yrds, some soft rabbit in distress and he came bouncing down the farm lane.
He stopped to scent post on a post and kept coming.
Naildriver was having some issues, first his safety was on, then his bolt wasn't closed the whole way,
then his safety was on again.
The fox stopped at 8 feet away and stood there trying to look around the light( still having issues)
I lip squeaked to keep him occupied and he took 2 more steps to us then bolted under the fence.
As I barked to try to stop him, Naildriver worked the bugs out and flopped him at 20yds with a 22mag through the ears.
Another nice male, we'll have to go back to get some more.
I'll post pics when he gets them to me
