Ian, you must have a problem with your nite lite. Foxpro51 and I used ours all last season and neither one of us had a bulb burn out. I know I'll need another one for this year but if yours is blowing that many times it sounds like you have some kind of a short in your light or your battery or your wiring.

One other problem with the "nite lite" is the wire kept getting in my way every time I put on my battery and head lamp. I cut the wire about a foot up from the battery and installed a regular house plug where I cut the wire. Now all I have to do is put on my battery pack by itself and put on my cap without the wire in the way. I just plug it in when I'm ready to hunt. Doing it that way you can't pull the wire by mistake and cause a bad connection on the battery or the light.
