Scope Question

Can you guys give me some feedback on what type of scope you are using for night hunting behind a gun mounted light?  I just mounted a XLR-250 to my .17 Fireball and the illuminated recticle 1.5x5x is seeming like it might need an upgrade to a higher power.

I am wondering about recticles and what power you guys are killing fox on.  Also, specific scopes you have found don't do everything you want or scopes you have found to be perfect.

My scope is 3 X 9 and its a illuminated duplex reticle.  I shoot most of my fox on 5 or 6 power.

3x9 is a good all around.If I was shooting a fireball and streching out to longer yardages I would consider something up to 12x with at least 50mm objectives.The higher power sure helps to Id your target.

At minimum 3 X 9 40 MM... I like Muller's, Leupold, Nikon...You don't need an expensive scope.  I sent you a P. M. with a good cheap source for Muller's...

When shooting at night with a 50mm objective lens the highest power you can use and still have a clear picture is 6 power.  There is a formula to figure it out.  but I cant remember it.

Easiest way is to just play with your scope.

I like the VXIII 1.5x5 illum german dot myself. For me my eyes can focus better on a red dot better then a illum crosshair.
