Mosquito Creek...stratagies for out of towners

Many people hunt in the Mosquito Creek out of county.. They stay at cabins and really don't have time to scout....It's really just like this...If the coyotes are not there your not going to call them in.. Hard hunting coyotes if you don't get out and scout... Also the weather in February can be down right nasty and you just have to deal with it...

Now if I was going out of town... This is what I would do...I'd try to locate them instead of hunting blindly in any patch of woods.. Let say your at a cabin... From Sunset to about 12:00 midnight.. I would take my electronic caller with the siren and try to get them to howl.. So you go to all the places that your going to hunt and try to get them to howl.. Now if they Howl...This is the places you want to sneak back in at Sun up and call.. The positive thing with this is you know they are there now instead of calling blindly.. You could actually locate them with the siren and then try to call them shortly there after too and then sleep in the daytime to get some of your energy back..

If I was going hunting out of town and did not scout I would hunt them by bodies of water. The large rivers and streams and large lakes and ponds... Water...there is prey animals by water and where there is prey animals they are predators too...

If it' windy...Go to your magnum type calls so they can hear it...I like The Crit-R-Call magnum for it's wind bucking capabilities...

If bad weather sets in and you can't call.. You can always put on a coyote drive too if you have enough people.. if you know they are in the area. You could drive for them just like deer..l make sure you all wear some orange if your gong to try to do this!!!!For Safety Sake!!

If you know coyotes are visiting a certain area for sure!!Why call set yourself up in a Nice high spot and ambush them.  Remember you can bait now..There are all kinds of ways to bait.. Sorry just can't tell you some of the members secret on here but just use your noodle a bit and think about it..

I would like to see more of our members with kill entries. That would just be awesome!!!

good info ub. I am not sure how much I will be hunting. There is a gun auction right next door to me on saturday. I did some scouting today and didn't find any coyote tracts. I sure am going to be sore now. Maybe tonight or some other night I will drive the road in my areas and try to find some.

Most of our members do not participate in this hunt for various reasons.
"Predators are either active & feeding, semi-active & callable, or utterly inactive & then practically speaking, no call is needed; we're just taking our guns for a walk. We can & should get used to it, & follow their leed cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow our’s any time soon!
