everything but...what i was looking for
« on: February 25, 2011, 03:42:59 PM »
after the rain stopped and i made it out to do some coyote hunting around 1p.m. I sadly seen none but in my journeys I did find some coyote tracks good sign and also found some Fisher tracker they both kinda went the same direction so i followed them climb up i bank and was looking around and down at a stream when i turned around about 60yds away up on a rocky cliff/highwall sort of thing i catch some movement low to the ground turns out it was a fisher. pretty neat seeing one first i ever seen one out then in differant location found what appears to be bobcat tracks all about, and one set of coyote tracks. is it common to find coyotes and cats in same area? I dont know if one would tend to keep the other away or not cant say i ever either way. oh and all most forgot just as i stepped out of the thick brush along the raod to get in truck wouldnt you know passing by at that same moment is the Pa.Boat and Fish Comm. well right away i see the brake lights come on then the reverse lights.Must say he was pretty cool asked what i was doing asked if gun was unloaded that i put in truck wanted to know if i had a permit for my handgun on  my side, checked back tag, then we where all on our merry way.

Neat experience Chiefz28...
First time I saw a fisher was in the Mt.Davis/Highpoint lake area... I called my buddy on the radio and told him sum1's Pet Ferret was out here eating chipmunks and this thing looks like it is on steroids... lol ...

That is when I was learned a lesson on the radio ... ;)  Everyone told me what I saw... Boy did I feel like a dummy... But my son was with me as we were Bear hunting and when I told him a bear running threw Pa woods sound like a truck crashing threw the woods without the crinkled metal sound and 2 minutes later this ferret comes crashing threw the Mt. Laurel chasing a chipmunk and right as it was going to catch it, I stood up and scared it... My boy looks at me and says What the heck was that, as he turned 3 shades of white...
Since then we have seen the whole family of 5 together last spring...

that would be neat to see bloodhound, and thanks for the answer Renny. well the day or night i should say didnt get much better, had people riding quads where we were going to make a stand so moved on out the road parked the truck crossed the road just walked down the hill about 45yds when heard a vehical come down the road and pull in near the truck and sit there and idle. so i start head up hill just before i crested the hill it pulls out goes short distance and sits the leaves so i continue over as i had my 9mm in it so i get it and head back down the hill 3/4 of the way down and here comes the truck again slows down pulls in again and this time i can hear them talking this time i crest the hill the are pulled right along side mine as to get a looks see in the window then the go spinning out around the back of it just as i step on road then as they come around and there lights shined on me me standing there with a rifle across my arms the brakes come on and they ask "hey whats up u hunting dogs" i walk over and it a truck full of young drunk A-Holes. The driver couldnt have passed any soberity test pretty sure of that but he was kind enough to tell me their were "no yooootes here they are all ooooverrrrr that crest thats where they all are".Drink another jerk.  I like to drink a beer time to time but because these clowns were up to no good and i feared something was gonna be done to my truck that stand was a total bust.then half way thru next stand batteries died in FoxPro :(

Yeah, even around Altoona those nights happen more than I'd like.
Plus every goober who sees you get out of a van with a gun decides to call the police.
