OLD COOT SHOOT-OUT
RULES AND DETAILS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
THIS HUNT IS OPEN TO ANY PPHA MEMBER AGE 60 YEARS OR OLDER
HUNT WILL RUN FROM OCT. 21 UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON ON FEB. 17 2018
ALL ANIMALS MUST BE CALLED
ALL PA GAME LAWS MUST BE FOLLOWED
THE MEMBER WITH THE MOST COMBINED FURBEARERS HARVESTED WINS
POST A PICTURE OF YOURSELF WITH YOUR ANIMAL(S) AND A SIGN THAT PROUDLY STATES "PPHA OLD COOT SHOOT-OUT 2017-18" ALONG WITH CURRENT DATE
PLEASE POST PICTURE WITHIN 24 HRS. OF HARVEST
PLEASE HAVE ALL ANIMALS POSTED BY NO LATER THAN 12 NOON FEB. 18
IF YOU'RE FEELING UP TO THE CHALLENGE, WHEN DECLARING "IN" PLEASE PICK A 3 DIGIT NUMBER IN CASE OF TIE
The prize for the lucky winner will be veiled in secrecy until the winner is declared..it will not disappoint...not to mention, all the bragging rights that come with being the deadliest coot in the gang.

I like to enter this hunt but CAN NOT! Jasper1 is trying to cheat already by requesting a 3-day check in just for him and his group.
Also since when does roadkill not count? That's a new rule that Goosebumps will not be able to withstand.
So let me get this right !! There is no curfew for the older guys hunting after 10 at night? I can see where some retirement homes would have a problem with that!
Sonny guiding these old blind guys too something in a trap and yelling shoot! shoot!. Well that should not set will with guys when a guide take advantage of old people like that. Also how long was that poor animal in the trap. Could be in there a couple of days till he gets these old guys to the spot to shoot them.
Yeah I don't think that's the kind of hunt I want to get in. Well not yet anyway.

Buckwheat, the 24 hour Rule- so Old Coots don't forget to check-in.
Which is a valid point since we forget to check in with the Wife, forget our daily medicines & forget what we can in the room for.
Jasper's suggestion of extended check-in time has merit.
48 hour or 72 hour check-in, Photo hunt contests- This will help out folks that hunt hours from home or staying away from home for a few days.

Boy oh boy it just keeps getting worse. Hern has never and will not even enter a contest and he is looking for an extension of time just because his sneaky buddy wants the check in time extended...
Sonny finally can hang with people in a contest and if any of them lose it doesn't affect him for winning his Flying Pig prize at the end of the year because of his age.
Misterjake is the youngest of the group and is being tight lipped. He's going to let these other guys hang them self with doctor appointments and wife honey do lists. He will then sneak in with one baby raccoon and win the pot.

I am in for 18 pages. I love this game! I figure old Coot Goose is in for at least 1 possum this year. You say three OLD COOTS are in so far but who is the third? Jaspr, Goose and?
And for the record OLD COOT BuckTooth, I'm not in this competition nor any competition if you noticed. I am taking a page out of Old Coot Hern's book. No Competition's. Therefore I aint posting nothing. :o :o :o :o

Just checking in with the shootout. I think this is the only hunt that we put up that there is no pics of fur flying. :o :o :o :o :o now that I am thinking about it I don’t recall ever seeing pics of these 3 things all in the same pic since being a member of the PPHA.

3. A predator from pa (preferred dead)

Because the other day, at 10 am, A mangy Red Fox trotted thru the front yard, pass the house then trotted to the back field.
I grabbed the .22 & bulb squeaker. Pouring rain, ran out to fur shed porch and peeked around corner.
Nothing around.
I began to squeak, and Fox came trotting straight to me. It was approaching to quickly so I stopped squeaking.
So Fox stopped.
I dropped it with a front chest shot.
Mangy bugger. Could have won a contest...lol

I am an old coot, I made this up the best I could. If you want perfect!!! You got to get your son or an 18 year old to fill out this complicated form.
I will now have figure out a way that i do not have to get a new sheet of paper since I am on a fixed income.
That dollar was from my fur buyer to fill up my car.

O-sure when I shoot a critter and take a nice picture it,s all down hill from from there. I apply all my woodsmanship skills and shoot a wily well fured upped critter and no one gives me a great job post or thumbs up!!

Thanks Hern!! I feel much better finally getting some reconission for my efforts. Not as easy as most think dragging that big critter up over the steep bank in the dark. I guess most posters on here can not relate to that type of situation. They will just have to take my word on how much work it is.

I cannot speak for other kids but the reason I have no pics is because I am waiting for it to get cold out. The older people might feel it is cold but it’s not cold out yet. To me it feels like late fall weather hope old man winter comes soon. Buckwheat looks like you could put your guns away for the rest of predator season cause I don’t think there is another old coot that can catch up to you in this hunt.

That raccoon picture I posted was to show you how good a shot I am at small target's. Not everyone can hit a raccoon spelled with (two C,s) of that size in the middle of the night wile scared it might attack.
That took a whole lot more skill and a lot scarier than shooting one out the back door at the trash can.

Well as expected, you have your facts all mixed up about my wife's recovery.
Just listening to all the hoops your wife had you jump through just to shoot that poor hungry raccoon reminds my of your kid.
(((BTW that recovery for Mrs. BW is 12 weeks 1 week for the surgery and 11 weeks from you being the Nurse!)))
My nursing methods are way different then your old hen pecked methods. Not a long recovery in my method.
Physical Therapy can be looked at in numerous different ways for recovery.
It is only 6 days and I am already looking at having her doing lite house work. I figure at this current rate I might have her vacuuming the floors way sooner then even she thinks.
PS. Since it is her left leg she will be able to drive me around sooner then if it was her right leg the doctor said.

Brushwolf, No. But common to think that at first look.
The bloody ear is from a lung shot then a tail spin. A blood transfer.
Coyote reaction is to bite/nip at entry point. Since it was lung shot there was a lot of blood at impact, the snow showed us that.
Lots of blood, head reaching back, ear rubbing shoulder/chest area equals blood being transferred to ear.
This happens with blood and tail spins

This partner did everything himself. Setup, his call, good shooting. I saw as much as you guys. I was facing the other way. I did get to see the tail spin and Coyote down. I give Jaspr all the credit. Any of you seasoned members would have pick the same setup, I bet ya. A classic, text book set up between two woodlots.
I usually carry the other guys fur. But in this case, being ole Coots and deep snow...we drove to downed Coyote. Way over there, to 75 yds. away. Hey, were ole, not dumb.

It might be the type batteries you are using. I also think there is a switch or programming that you have to set for the type of batteries you have in unit.

As i said before the trick is to get her up vacuuming and washing the floors ASAP. If the doctors can throw their patients out of the the hospital from major surgery the same day my method must be just as good.

I heard BW shot the last two Fox, Annie Oakley style. He didn't use his fancy dancy gun rest.
BW turned his back to Fox. Rested rifle on his shoulder. Held a mirror in other hand. And killed them Fox. Is what I heard.
He had a 'GoPro' strapped to his head to record these fancy shots. Problem was, camera was on front of his hat. He was shooting the opposite way.
So he got backward video footage of bare field, distance barn & his Subaru parked over there.

Way to much typing again. The home close by the restaurant has a buss for old people. Even though goosebumps is to old to realize he is old, you just tell him it,s a vacation tour bus for free and he will get right on thinking he made a deal.
As far as the worm hole and banana peel, yes this is as close to living on the edge as I can take.
I called the restaurant they want your money up front when I mentioned the club's name. Just send me $15 each and that'll cover the cost and the tip.
They will only book seating after the money is received. I know everyone in on a fixed income except for Sonny. I know that's living off the state money's in a different way. But it is still a fixed income.
Sorry, I know how much you want to congratulate me but it looks like you'll have to wait just a little longer. Also as far as the window seating sorry, they want us in the back room with no windows. They reminded me other people can actually look into the windows. So they said that Windows seating is not going to happen.
