:) :) :) :) Come on people! :( :( :( :( Don't let "already made a place for it"...just walk off with it.... :P :P :P I know you people are screwing up :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ your just not forthcoming >:( >:( >:( I went hunting coyote/fox with my youngest Son last night, last time we did this was 22years ago....not a misprint.. :o :o..Anyway it started out on a high note....1st stand out of the truck headlamps on, my son says .."WOW"... we never had anything like this. Getting settled and a truck goes by down by the road and honks the horn >:( Thank-You! DORK....I said it's probably "LookN4aFisher" trying to ruin my night.... :-\ :-\ anyway zip on this stand...#2 out of truck..on with the lamps :o my lamp comes on half :P :P then it starts to strobe ::) ::) half....OMG.....Never had a malfunction all of archery season...going to the hut...My Son starts to laugh >:( >:( "Calm Down Dad" :P I don't want to "Calm Down".... :(... zip again. #3 Trying to use the remote,hand light to scan and keep the firearm ready... :-[..can you say 68 feeling like 86 :-[ :-[ anyway on this stand we had a coyote check us out, no opportunity for a shot :P spent a considerable time but Zip. It got us both fired up though... ;D ;D ;D.....#4 Started with DSG distress on the Foxpro..just a bit...then to Gray fox distress....Bingo...fox runs up to Greg's left side and he can't get a shot, circles below us and I get a crack at him when he runs across an opening....and I killed a large Rhododendron. :o Can you now say "NIGHTMARE" the only thing worse would have been if "LookN2ChimeIn" was there... :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ my SON flesh and blood ParBoiled me all on his own... :-[ :-[ :-[ #5 Start out with "Super Secret" sound I had Foxpro put in.....off to my left I hear something approaching ...it's on a collision course with Greg ;D waiting for the shot ??? ??? low whistle...I look.... everything behind me is black...Dad!....my light just went black......his gun light just shut off.....back to truck...new battery everything ok again.....he said it was working fine and just went black no warning... :P :P :P.............well we made 3 more stands and by then the "Old Coot" was completely wearing out so we called it. What a comedy of error's ;D ;D but it didn't dampen our spirits ;D ;D ...............that's my story and I'm sticking to it...LOL..... 8)

I must say I enjoyed seeing your face of disgust when I beeped the horn.
Hern, anyone vying for "The Deckard" better come proper with a legit story. Daddy's account of misfortune was comical at best but definitely not worthy of such a grand award.
What I cannot believe are the rookie mistakes made as a so called "Veteran" of the sport. Here are some tips for you Dad!
1) Always, always carry three good batteries in your pocket. One for the headlight and two for the shooting light.
2) Keep the gun light off until you are ready to ID and Shoot. Also saves on Batteries.
3) You obviously missed because you were not using Ernie's Tri X shooting stand.
4) Rhododendron is a "species of concern". Accidental shootings must be reported to the game commission immediately or you will force my hand.
5) 68? There is no Mo@#$% Fu%^&* Way !!!!!!!!! Enough said.
6) Goose doesn't really want to hunt. He just wants to report on the weather from his recliner. Stop asking him then you won't be disappointed!!
6) Glad to see you got to hunt with your son again. Hopefully you can do it again soon.
PS: If your flesh and blood can't make it out with you, give me a call. I would like to go hunting with my step daddy sometime. Especially at your spots. It would save me from typing all of these tips and wasting time when I should be working.

He's just going to take you out at night and tell you to hold a bag over the trail he points out to you to gard. He will tell you just to stay there until he runs the critters to you to catch in the bag. Just like he did when you were 4 years old.

When you get old, family & friends are a blessing.
Am old, but still spend most of my time with younger folks. I have 4 grandchildren in college. Love figuring them out and love all of them laughing at me.
I have several local trapping and calling friends that are in their 20's & 30's and enjoy spending time with them.
Nowadays, when I purchase something....I know it comes with a life time guarantee...lol
I consider all the members on this site friends.
Good friends are like quilts-they age with you, yet never lose their warmth.
I have seen too many dear friends leave this world, too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it, if I choose to read, or play on the computer, until 4 AM, or sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 50s & 60s and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love, I will.
I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And, eventually, I remember the important things.
Sure, over the years, my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break, when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers or a pet dies? But broken hearts are what give us strength, and understanding, and compassion.
I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turn gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.
As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.
I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. I smoke a cigar any time I feel like it.
May our friendship never come apart

You complain about the pathetic stories brought forth by your membership, yet you do not pour the blame on your senior leadership in your district. Could it be that you secretly desire no one come forth with the story to make yours irrelevant.
Not being a member of your district, I would accept yours as the best.
However here is the rub. I really liked it when a district could have a contest among themselves, but that is not the way it is today. Until now.
This Deckard could have quite the effect on the organization as a whole and please contemplate, if you will, how tis could enhanceyour standing in the far reaches of the PPHA.

Not a hunting experience, but a trapping experience this week.
I set a tiny, thin wire snare for a Chipmunk. Hole was under a cement porch. Snare set at entrance.
I caught a 5' Black Snake!
Outrageous!
Release unharmed.

:) Ok it's time to get serious about the end of season awards "Brekie". :) Time to award the "DECKARD" and get it out of my garage once and for all! :) An idea Goose and I were kicking around was a Breakfast in the Clearfield area a centrally located spot and we could then visit Grice's Gun Shop in Clearfield if anyone wished. :) Is anyone familiar with that area, that could suggest a place, where we could eat and not be thrown out after 20 minutes? :) Goose and I have the capacity to haul 3 people each, so we could carpool if anyone's interested in that....Tentative date would be April 1, 7 or 8 am, if we have enough interest. Goose is in Chambersburg and I am about 10 miles North of 81, Marysville exit, along 11&15.....PM if interested in carpooling...also list your name here if your interested in going and any other suggestions....you can also cast your vote for the indvidual you feel should receive this prestigious award... :).. A sit down, face to face .. a good time to make suggestions, air your complaints and mend some fences and jump start this Org. again!......... 8)

I am so dedicated to the cause that I will miss the first day of trout to attend the brekie with Jaspr1. If it can not be rescheduled that is.

:) I have conferred with Foxhound and he is good with setting up a later date. So I am going to suggest Saturday May 20th. All day turkey hunting is in and trout is open statewide. All suggestions and other dates are welcome...this will give everyone ample time to make plans to attend or not....every time we have had one of these BREKIE's it was enjoyed by all and a ton of stuff got kicked around....JMO but I think if we did stuff on a regular every year at this time schedule we could avoid some of the current problems..For instance ..season long hunt 1st day of fur taker till last, North central hunt 1st weekend in Nov.(or whateverdate)Holiday Hunt week of christmas...bobcat hunt..march madness....just come up with dates and make adjustments as needed , then there would be no guessing or wondering whose doing what when....it would be a standard format every year...again JMO.... 8) I should also add this could apply to camp outs,picnics or any other thing...
