Title: Handguns
Post by: coyotejohn on March 11, 2016, 11:06:10 AM
Don't see to much here on handguns, so thought I start a new thread.  Out here we need no government agency to tell us we can or can not carry a concealed weapon.  If you walk into most of our stores you will find a significant number of people open carry and probably twice as many carrying concealed.  I very seldom leave home without a sidearm, to include church.

My open carry Sig, cocked and locked ready to go.

I wish more people would carry.  It would cut down on the crime in  my opinion

Top one is a 1911 .45ACP, bottom one .380 can put it in your pocket (w/o holster)and it is not noticeable.

CJ, Nice pistols. I have a pistol or shotgun within reach most of the time. I favor carrying S&W, M&P Shield .40, .45 or 9mm

Jake, I agree.
My Dad is long gone. When he was alive, and headlines of a crime hit the newspaper, Dad would always say... "if everyone wore a pistol on their hip, there wouldn't be so much crime."

Goose, if memory serves me correctly I think they only made that in 41 mag, not sure.  I have a buddy who has one and he turned down $1,000 for it.  Are they still producing them?

Hern, I think your daddy was right and thanks for the compliment on the pistols.  We too have a handgun or shotgun within arms reach in every room of the house.  Likewise when we lived on the border, now that we moved into town I feel even less secure - city living sucks.

When I retired from Active Duty in 84, my retirement gift from the guys on my team was a pre-64 Win Mdl 70, .270.   My son now is the proud owner of that rifle.  After 9/11 I volunteered to be recalled and was.  Served an additional three years and upon retirement was present with:

Presented by the enlisted men on my team, never fired and only touched once a year to be rubbed down with a new coat of oil.  This will go to my youngest daughter as she served as a combat medic in Afghanistan & Iraq.

The older I get the more guns I give away to my kids and grandkids.

:) CJ  :) Nice!  :) How many years did you do? Just on the off chance...did you know Ron Wilson from Troxelville,Pa.? should have been there about the same time frame as you. He used to attend all the SF get together's before he passed.....I know he went to one in AZ or NM back around 2003...just wondering, sometimes it's a small world..... 8)

Total of just a bit over 27, twenty-four first go around and three the last go around, most of that time with the 82nd, 173rd,SF and then - others that we don't talk about.  Did a couple of garrison tours, mostly as a paper pusher or instructor. The name Ron Wilson is familiar but can't put a face or place to it.  Do you know what Group or organization he was with?

I too was with the 5th in VN, mid 60's, SOG late 60's and then again in the late 60's.  Was also with the 1st in Okinawa with many of trips "off" the island.  Maybe that is why the name is familiar, many times you may be in the same Group but never see or meet others in the Group, but will occasionally hear a name mentioned.
