Title: Ticks, ticks, ticks!
Post by: predator77 on July 20, 2013, 09:17:49 PM
Hey guys, be careful out there hunting. I have had a tick attached on me the last two times I came home for hunting. I now use Repel 100 and it burns but I guess it's better than Lyme disease. The seem to be real bad out here this year.

I agree, First one this season was St. Patrick's day weekend and I picked the 8th one off me tuesday after a quick trip in the woods to check my trail cam pics.

A couple of years ago I started using permethrin and I had no issues since.

Brushwolf
You are right on, permethrin is the best.
The problem I have is I never seam to we're the same out fit wile out walking around. But treated clothing will keep them off ya when using it.

Permethin works the best.  i have also used permethin used for lice and it works the same, just don't spray it on your clothes when you are wearing them.

Ya, good you mentioned that. Bad stuff when on wet skin. You are to spray and let dry before wearing clothes.

Thanks fellas on the advice. I bought some today at Walmart after you recommended it. Now, I have to find out which set of clothes I'm going to put it on.  :-\

You can get the Sawyer tick spray in Dicks sporting goods Camping Department... I was out there shrooming today... Not a tick on me.. I also use 98% DEET too. Every now and then you hear those skeeters buzz your ears..

Usually I am a tick magnet....but never had one latch on yet. For some reason I have not had many ticks this year..or my dogs. But what I am getting annoyed with is Poison Ivy...I never had it in my life until a couple months ago. Just recently got over a bad case on the back of my legs/buttocks....now I got it on my left hand and both thighs....I don't even remember seeing any!

Thanks for the heads up on the tick repellent!
