Title: Coyote population

I read once that the coyote population is directly proportional to it's food supply. I.e., when there are high numbers of rabbits, lets say,  the following year, there is a higher coyote population. If there is a lower number of rabbits, the coyote population is down for the following year.

Being a resourceful critter, some of us believe they don't eat as large a percentage of rabbits as thought.  I'm starting to believe the biggest fluctuation in their numbers may be from disease. Last Saturday I called in and shot a male that had no fur on its back and the rest was on its way. Speaking to a few trappers here in Luzerne, I was told they were seeing some of it also.  My guess is sarcoptic mange is getting to limit their numbers.
My fear is it will be cutting the fox population also.
