Title: Coyote locating

Question? When locating coyotes along roads where you "think" they might be close too. Do you howl from the vehicle? If so do you shut the vehicle off and remain silent beforehand?

I tried this different times always from top of hill I would park and walk away from road a little never had much luck locating that way.

Im having zero luck with just pulling off the road and howling from the car. I kill the lights bUT not the motor. That's why I ask....these dogs are used to cars around here so I figured I would be okay that way but I guess not.

I've watched turkey strutting and gobbling up a storm.  Guy pulls over, shuts the car off, hits the call, gobbler goes quite.  Few minutes after he leaves, gobbler fires back up.

I always get away from the road when scouting and locating.  Slower, but I believe it's more efficient

important... watch the actions of other animals and you will know if coyotes are around.. If the deer are all along a road at night time.. Yep the coyotes are there in the woods... Heck on the howling.. If you have permission or it's public lands. With the wind in your face get off the road  25 yards and call.. Find a place with a lane or logging road coming to your calling... Put the electronics behind you on the trail and walk down and stand on the outside bend.. See you can see down the logging road farther if you always hunt the outside bend...
