Title: Take it from our Military? train train train all simulated situations
Post by: uncle buck on February 20, 2016, 07:05:47 PM
I was in the USCG.. wow did we train out at sea. Hours on hours of it.. However when the time came it got done so smoothly.. Piece of cake.. Such is the case on new predator callers. Took a greenie on the great coyote hunt... In comes the coyote from the side..Where he was standing... It was over.. Called in a fox...his EW Wilson hooded light hit the scope.. He dimed it with one click but should have dimed it with a second the light still shot down the scope tube... He didn't get the shot at the fox.. So hey... new callers need to be put through scenarios of what to do when the fox comes in.. Also seasoned callers need to stress the right things to do when new hunters hunt...  Taking greenies in the field can be frustrating for them.. Hey we were all greenies at one time.. Just saying best to give a bit of simulated training for them.. Like showing a kid how to use the drag on a fishing reel when they hook into a big fish.. it will happen and if you don't show up. Snap goes the line.. :(

A year ago I paid a few $ bucks to read Dog Breaths how too harvest  coyotes mini book on line. Made me laugh and he was right imo. gave an overview on people chances of bagging a coyote based on amount of hunters participating.  Less amount was better. 1 better than 2 hunter. 2 was still ok but your percentage drops. Now once you go to 3 and then 4 hunters your kill percentage drops. So many of you know a few coyote hunters that hunt alone. Makes you think they hunt at a zoo . Kill after kill after kill. Any of those 1, 2,  3 and or 4 hunters that truly aren't train the coyote hunt is over.

If there are more than two on a calling stand it's not hunting it's a social gathering.
