Title: 20 gr hornady vmax?
Post by: RyanX on February 10, 2014, 05:57:06 PM
Hey guys, I have a 17 Mach IV that I use for fox. I am currently shooting hornady 25 gr hollow points and it did more damage than I want. So I am wondering if any of you guys have any experience using teh 20 gr. v-max bullets and or what are you recommended?

Ryan
I would have thought that 3360 would be ok.
If you do not hit them straight in the chest from front or side
You will get some damage.
20 gr. Ballistic tip did a lot of damage for me at 3600. They would blow up on the fur and I would get runners and have to shoot them twice. I will not use them again.

I use the 17 hornet 20 gr V Max and I always take head shots.  I don't have any fur damage problems or putting them down.
