All rifled with a 17 Mach IV this past week.  Thought some of you may like a picture or two.  Good luck on your predator hunts!

The bobcat was on the 23rd at 0110 hours.  11 minute response time and came in dead down wind showing once again that they will often disregard their nose.  Its was very bright out over snow.  Vert cold too lol 4 degrees if I remember correctly.  I used a hand call in conjunction with a Foxpro.

The coyote and red fox were killed on the same evening but, not on the same stand or same piece of property for that matter.  Once again full moon kills and I think the date was the 19th of January.  I was guiding and the shots for the most part were not mine to take or more would be dead.  I made seven stands and put four coyotes, two fox and two bobcats in front of my client as well as an owl that about took off our heads.  He didnt get anything and the bobcats were still out of season even though they were both very close and easy shots.  I had to shoot the coyote and red fox after he spooked them and they were checking out.  The red was 174 paces and the coyote that I shot was 135 paces.  It was 50 yards broadside when it was spooked.  A tough hunt but I put two down anyways.  I used prey sounds only either on a hand call or Foxpro.  The coyote pictured above was on the ground in eight minutes.  The red around 10 minutes.  The hunt was night hunting only.  Started at 830ish and ended at 3am.  All responses were 10 minutes or under on everything except a lone hard charger coyote that didnt show up until the 22 minute mark.  Please no inquires about guiding for I have no vacancies.  It was included for story purposes only.  Everything called was shootable other than the one coyote which i personally felt had a too much brush in front of it for an ethical shot so it was passed.

Oops!  I didn't weigh the bobcat since it wasn't my biggest.  Years ago I spent alot of time weighing this and that but over the years I have got worn out from all that kind of stuff so now I just hunt.  I only break out my digital scale when I think I have a personal record laying there before me.  It was a nice bobcat.  I forgot to mention that in my post.  Good luck and stay warm.

Its called Natural Gear.  Its all I have worn for years.  Midway USA sometimes has some decent deals on this camo pattern.  I would just shop around.

I wish I could but, I too am in need of the same class.  I tend to have my night photos turn out to light from the flash.  I do my best with a Nikon set on a timer and a tripod but believe me I am no great photographer here.  I make do but thats about it.  I think once the season is over I will play around with settings and try to get rid of my pictures sometimes being to light.

Kirk sometimes pictures "wash out" or get too light, that's because on moonlit nights in the snow, you sometimes need a shade to wash out some of the flash, that way the flash doesn't light up the naturally brighter background than normal........any other questions pm me ill be glad to answer anything about filming or taking pictures

Yotehammer,
Here is an example.  It was fairly dark and no full moon but, look at how the closest animal washes out.  I believe its from flash but, I still havent tackled how to fix it.  I have different settings on my Nikon so maybe I need to start there.  I will also try the shade advice.  Thanks.

Yote Hammer,

The two pictures above of the coyote are daylight photos taken moments apart.  One is light and one is dark.  The settings and everything remained the same.  Any ideas as to where to start.  I have to take quite a few photos to get a decent one at times.  I was starting to think either my camera which is new is not working right but more than likely its just operator error.  Thanks again for your input.
