They hit my bait the last three Saturdays in a row. Always between 3:05 am and 3:20 am. They seem to keep a pretty tight schedule.
-
Nortpete, what time you want me there to setup on them yotes with ya? 8) 8) ;D
-
By the looks of the pics bait is almost gone,we better hurry!! :D ;D :D
-
There is more. You just can't see it in the picture.
-
That looks like a really big male, mosquito creek hunt is comin, that dog could be worth $$$$$$.I think last year the 1st place winner got around 8000.00. 51 lbs.
-
Only 8k.....I might start camping in the woods for these hunts.
-
1st-7880.00 Don Ried 51.2

-

-
Get em Pete !
-
Pete,how did the hunt go??
-
Hounds men tracked them Friday. Don't know if they got them or not.
-
We have guy around here that hunts them with dogs, these guys do well,I hunted with them a couple of times years ago,it's amazing how far a coyote will travel sometimes when he knows he's being pursued.Good luck, hope ya getem..
-
The group around me usually kill 60 or more a year. I think they are going to fall short of that this year because of how the weather has been.
-
On a good day I have seen this guys get 4 in one Saturday, takes me 3 to 4 weeks to get that many with a call.Only good think I don't have to feed an water my call. ;D ;D
-
That is very true!
-
Have you seen any yote sighn sence the dogs were chasin em?
-
I checked my cameras today. They have not been back since I posted those two pictures. It kind of stinks but oh well.
-
Ya,whatta ya gone to do..
-
I made up two nice baitsicles for a guy to put at his camp this weekend. If nothing shows, I'll give him some skunk and trapping lures to pour out each night for them to find the bait. Also gave him a bunch of bones and meat to through out as well. I don't have my own place to bait but I am hoping he has some success. Lots of great tips from those old Brian Downs articles...
-
I found an area with good coyote sign,I am gonna start a bait pile this weekend, providing I can make it to the butcher shop to pick up some goodies..
-
I am not sure if it is the same in your area as it is in mine, but the coyotes here will not touch a bait pile if the cow or pig scraps have been treated with antibiotics. I could put two piles side by side, one with untreated meat and one that has had an antibiotic. They will eat all of the untreated pile and not even look at the treated pile.
-
Pete, that is interesting, did not know that.I never had a problem with them hitting the bait.I do know they are super cautious when they come into it,I really watch how an were I set up when hunting.
-
It maybe just an issue in my area, but I would think it would be similar throughout.
-
Pete,those coyotes ever come back?
-
The pair has not been back. I have had singles twice, but they will not go near my bait pile. I can tell you there are going to be some record sized red tailed hawks in the area!
-
LOL,On the hawks,I don't think I ever seen a coyote turn down a free meal,Are you still usin the same bait?
-
Ya. I have not had to put anything else out yet. The coyotes won't touch it. Fox won't go near it and the hawks and crows haven't cleaned it all up yet. With deer season being over I'm not getting anymore deer scraps. I do have a still born calf to try next.
-
That otta work, they have no problem takin calves from local farmers, along with there chickens, turkeys, barn cats,LOL.
-
We will find out.
