I use a 17 hornet with the same results.  I've killed groundhogs out as far as 220 yards.  How does the super mag compare with the bullistics of a 17 hornet?

Ballistics on the hornet with a 20 grain v max is 3650 fps an the15.5 grain is 3860 fps.  The 17 rimfire super mag is 3000 fps,not to shabby for a rimfire.

I have one and have been shooting fox with it all season with the 20gr polymer tips and have been having great results also! I also shot one coyote with it so far with the 20gr polymer tips. Coyote was 75 yards broadside and hit him right in the boiler room. Luckily it was out in the open and watched him run to 300 yards and pile up. Got out to him and he was still breathing so I shot him once more in the head to seal the deal. Don't know if maybe the 25gr would have been better but according to the ballistics 20gr still has as much energy at that range so I don't know. IMO I wouldn't be specifically targeting Coyotes with it due to the fact that they will probably run and there will be no blood to trail it with. Coyote was also a big 40lbs male too though.

Everything I read about it says good fox round, but stay away from yotes.  .17 Hornet now is a beast.

If I owned a .17 Hornet I would.  Most reviews and initial feedback has been that the Hornet is a good medium range(1-200 yards) yote gun.  I have no personal experience though.  I'm a window shopper who spends all day reading articles and researching calibers.

Killed another coyote with it the other night. 20gr polymer tip bullets. This one only ran 15 yards though before piling up dead. He was facing me at 60 yards and I hit him square in the chest.

Been wondering about the same thing. Being in special regs area I was really fired up for the 17WSM but got turned off with everything that went along with the release.....and I'm a Savage guy.

I can't seem to love my 22mag, I'd love to love a 17WSM. I've been eyeing up the BMag SS, see if the problems have been worked out....(fingers crossed).

Glad to finally hear about guys putting fur on them....well done !!!
