Title: Considering Hunting PA Counties - Bradford/Susquehanna
Post by: davem on April 06, 2013, 02:17:17 PM
I live just over the boarder in NY and with Coyote season at an end I'm considering trying some of the state lands in PA (#219 I'm thinking).  Is anyone here with coyote experience in these counties?   Also can you answer or point me in the direction for.....

-PA Calling methods?
-Electronic or hand only?
-Can I secure a PA big game license with my NYS license or PA Hunter Safety course required first?
-I believe day and night hunting is allowed?
-Predator lights are allowed?
-I note there is not closed season other than the conditions if my deer tag is filled (which i don't plan on doing).

thx
Dave

I don't hunt them counties,,but i can answer some of your questions..

Yes you can get a license  if you have a Ny license..(Non Resident))
Calling to them all over the board...electronic or hand callers..
    night and day hunting yes...
Lights allowed- yes but no laser scopes etc....
No close season or limit(( only closed during a period of Big game season))
And on Sundays you can hunt them...

Thanks P53.....i was reading PA licenses switch over on 7/1 so i need to decided if it's worth $100 for 2+ months.  I did go calling last yesterday afternoon.  On two sets got one fox to come in but nothing else.  219 has some great terrain and just need to confirm it holds dogs.  My guess is yes but a bit more snooping around will tell.

thank you.

Dave

Yeah it does...hmm well if you have a good area and want to shoot a dawg...go for it...or wait and get your new license....coyotes are going to be some what stuck to the den for a  few months...with pups....your call brother...i'd wait.... too much money to put out for a few months..and then you have to scout...time time time...and more gas money...

Gas money...ugh.  got DAT right.  Hey I read a post on another board recently where a PA res commented on he wishes his state allowed semi auto (AR) to be used.  I was going to check further but maybe you already know.  Are ARs legal to use in PA hunting?  I was surprised by his post as that is what I hunt with (AR. 223)

Thx
Dave
