I finally was able to get a hold a TC Venture camo scope and gun pckage in a .204 Ruger. I bought it mainly to shoot ground hogs and if lucky enough, a Coyote. Without spending a fortune on various ammo to see what shoots best, I am turning to the forum here for any recommendations. I love the Hornady ammo, and would like to stick with that Manufacturer. I'm just not sure what grain / bullet weight to go with. All opinions are welcome.

32 gr v max.

I shoot the 40 gr v max. I would not go any heavier than the 40 gr

TC uses a 1:10 twist for their 204. Every gun is different, but it may handle the 39 or 40 grain better than the 32. You won't know til you try though. My CZ shoots them all well, but the 32s better. It's a 1:12 twist

I shot two boxes of 40 gr out of My savage, then tried 32's, and 32's shoot a much better group, 3 out of 4 were with in 1 inch circle at 200 yards. May have been coincidence, either way very impressed!

That IS impressive at 200!!!!

That is VERY impressive! Are you shooting factory ammo?
Savage uses a 1:12 also. Like I said though, every gun likes something different. Won't know until you try them.

My 204 is in a Howa 1500. It shoots the 32 grain hornady very well. If I can do my part, it will put 3 shots under half inch at 100 yards. Even with other bullets it groups under an inch. I never shot target at 200 yards. Maybe when I get more time...
