Title: Need advice on my light
Post by: Seeking_Coyotes on November 22, 2012, 09:33:45 AM
I have the xlr kill light 250 riding on top of my scope with the new plastic mounts that are removable.  I am not at all satisfied with the way the light appears in the scope.  Out to 40 yards it is perfect.  Beyond that it gets way under the crosshairs.  Had a yote last night at about 150 yards and couldn't see the eyes in the scope because my light was so far below the critter in the scope.  Never had the issue on my old scope with the same light and the metal mount.  Advice on how to fix this issue?

Have you tried mounting it 90 degrees out from the top of your scope at the 3 or 9 o'clock position?

Also, what about turning the light within the mount.  It seems the bell may be reflecting the light at a downward angle.  Turning the light or bell may adjust the beam to meet your scope line of sight.

No.  Is that a solution?  Are you doing it that way?  Wish it could swivel up and down.

I'm not familiar with your type of light, though I am with the mount (I believe I'm thinking of the one your using).  It couldn't hurt to try.  If it don't work, try shimming the light.

Make sure you have both halfs even when you tighten the knob.

Ok, so I bought the Carnivore light from Ernie and it arrived yesterday.  Took it out for a trial run and it solved my problem.  I've used a bunch of different lights and I have to say this one is hands down my favorite shooting light.  I felt confident on shots that were formerly outside my confidence range.

Nice, I got one coming shortly.  I've been salivating for it to get here.

Just buy the neopreme halo shield for the kill light. You can change the angle of the light beam by shifting the halo shield. Alot cheaper than buying another light.
