Title: New predator hunter
Post by: Yoter on January 28, 2012, 08:48:02 AM
New to predator hunting and to this site just wanted to say hi to everyone.  Seems like alot of good info here and stories.  I've only got hand calls till I can afford an e-caller but was out twice so far and yesterday morning I had some barking and yipping but couldn't get them to come all the way in sounded like they were circling downwind I must have done something wrong but gonna try tonight just before dark seems like it's gonna be quite the learning process, but that's part of the fun I guess.  I'm in north central PA if anyone wants to get together, I'm pretty interested in some population control in PA I guess everyone helps and hopefully saves a deer somewhere.

Hey Yoter,

Welcome aboard!!!  There is a lot to learn about predator hunting.  These old guys on here and the young ones too, are a wealth of information.  I got the bite in 2008 when I got a coyote on my trail cam.  After contacting a member on here. I had my coyote a few days later.

Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Welcome!!!

Just a little advice from a newer pred hunter.

Be Patient and don't get down on yourself.
Don't go crazy with high end purchases.
Personally your best investment starting out will be a good gun light and scanning light.
Keep a journal.
Lastly don't overhunt your spots.

Good Luck,
Shadowchaser

Thanks everyone for all the responses glad to be here just got into predator hunting found this site and seemed like everyone was so helpful that's why I joined.  I'm gonna keep at it  I know there here because everytime it snow's anywhere there's deer tracks seems like there's coyote tracks right along with them wich tells me they are chasing the deer (probably why we havent' been seeing many deer the last several years).  I also have 3 bear behind my house funny they seem to follw the deer tracks too HHMMMM?  unfortunately in bear season they were nowhere to be found.  But i'm gonna keep after them also just found a fox den so I know they're around too.  keep upall the great posts and information
Thanks
Mike
