GAME COMMISSION APPLAUDS REPEAL OF LICENSE DISPLAY REQUIREMENT
New law takes effect on Feb. 13
HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe today applauded the enactment of legislation that will remove the requirement for hunters and trappers to display their licenses on an outer garment. The law takes effect in 60 days.
House Bill 735, sponsored by Rep. Keith Gillespie (R-York), was unanimously approved by the House on June 15, and was approved by a vote of 46-3 in the Senate. Gov. Tom Corbett signed the bill into law today, which will take effect on Feb. 13.
“Since 2003, the Game Commission has been supporting various drafts of legislation sponsored by Rep. Gillespie and Rep. Neal Goodman (D-Schuylkill) to remove this antiquated requirement,” Roe said. “With today’s new license format, this change in law will make hunting less complicated, improve license management by hunters and trappers, and limit the inconveniences and troubles associated with lost or misplaced licenses.
“While we are pleased with the change in law, it is important to remember that the new law doesn’t take effect for 60 days. So, hunters and trappers will need to continue to wear their licenses on an outer garment until Feb. 13.”

Yes and losing it which has happened to me out in the field.
The past few years I 've Bear hunted in Maine and up there that's the way it is.
I posted it figuring it would reach a lot of us.

i will finally be legal now! i wonder if they did the same with fishing?

it's about time they get rid of that silly law... I never had a license on my back when I was out at night... during the day it made it easy for the bunny cops to see if you had it, but what were they gonna see at night... kept it in my bag in the truck...never had a problem when I got checked either...

Yes, I thought it was great when I went to Maine then I got the email from PGC that it's going bye bye.

So, how many people complained about losing their wallets while hunting? Now where are you going to keep your license?
What I do find funny is, I checked a hunter who said it was awesome to get rid of the display requirement, and asked for ID, he had to get his wallet, which was in his back pocket, which was under his "orange hunting suit"
As he dug out his wallet, he grumbled saying what a pain it was to pull his wallet out, and I smiled and asked "where are you keeping your license next year?" ;D

When I go up to Maine they give you a small zip loc bag to put it in.
I would keep it in my top pocket of my hunting clothes.
I'll take a pic of it and upload it.

This is how Maine does it, the lic is under the green transport tag but as you can see they provide the little zip loc bag.
