Title: dual purpose shotgun load?

I am in the process of getting a new rifle. Until I get it I only have a shotgun. What would u guys suggest as a dual purpose load for fox and the ocassional yote from a 3inch rem 870?

My recommendation is 4 buck, its the largest shot allowed to be used in pa. Alot of manufactures have it available and its economical(about $1.25 per shell). 3" shells have 41 pellets ans 2 3/4" shells have 27 pellets. each pellet is .24" diameter and carries alot of knock down power.

I second that, just shoot some through different chokes to see which patterns the best. I currently use a 870 with a imp mod choke for 3" #4 Remington. Your results may vary.

I hand load #2 lead,  it is hard hittin.  The dead coyote is no joke it puts them down and lightens your wallet.

Good recommendations for you so far by other posters.... I like to use  Kent Tungsten # 1 shot... It shoots just like lead through any choke and it will anchor coyotes and will not blow up fox..
Go into the small sport shops and you can get this stuff on clearance.  Might be tough now because of waterfowl season but keep that in the back of your mind as the year progresses and you go into  2012.  I have already gotten   3 1/2 box of Kent Tungsten...10 per box for $8.00.


Bismuth is also a good brand to use... I like the BB shot in the Bismuth brand....10 per box and it's expensive but again it will take care of coyotes and fox...You 10 gauge shotgunners...This is the way to get larger shot for your  10 gauge by buying the Bismuth brand... I use the Bismuth BB in the 10 gauge..

If your going to hunt gray fox and you don't think your going to call in a coyote... Just slip some Remington #   4 shot high brass into the gun.  Using all this stuff recommend for the Gray Fox is a bit an over kill since most times they will come right to the speaker..

Just some more info for the  10 gaugers.  Deadcoyote now comes in  #4 Buckshot for the 10   gaugers!!

Last I checked MidwayUSA has the Deadcoyote 10 gauge ammo on the shelf!!!!!!
